Let’s soak in those beautiful words for a moment!
Yes, God donned an earth suit and came to earth. Yes, it was intentional! Yes, He suffered the same temptations and tribulations that we do. Yes, although tempted at all points as we are, He did not sin so that He would qualify as the only acceptable sacrifice for our sins. Yes, He made that sacrifice willingly, because He loves us so much, individually just as we are, sin and all, that He could not and would not do without us, whom He has called His glorious inheritance.
In all of our Christmas hustle and bustle, urgent must-dos, partying, and all of the madness the evil one uses to distract us from the real meaning of the celebration, we lose sight of what Christmas is all about.
Get yourself a cup of hot chocolate and a Christmas cookie and contemplate the One who loves you personally so much that He died the worst death ever to prove it, without any regard for your behavior or report card.
Stop and think about the fact that the Creator, the one who made and maintains everything that exists, including the infinite stars, galaxies, multiverses, and every one of the hundreds of trillions of cells in your body, loves you that much!
Think about the fact that He chose to leave His unimaginable glory to walk through the reality of flesh life for thirty-three years, to be tortured and brutally murdered, for you. Fill in your name here.
“OH LORD MY GOD, WHEN I IN AWESOME WONDER, CONSIDER ALL THE WORLDS YOUR HANDS HAVE MADE, I SEE THE STARS, I HEAR THE ROARING THUNDER, YOUR POWER THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE DISPLAYED, THEN SINGS MY SOUL, MY SAVIOR GOD TO THEE, HOW GREAT YOU ARE, HOW GREAT YOU ARE!”
Take a moment to think about what has happened. The GREAT I AM has come to your world to show you how much you mean to Him, and to prove it! Because He loves you that much! He doesn’t care about your sins! He has forgiven all of them, past, present, and future! He knows that once you truly believe in and believe Him, the knowledge of His love for you, the acceptance of it, and the belief in it, will change you, and that you will become the new creation that He paid the price to make you. He knows that you will sin, but not be a sinful person once you learn of Him and accept Him.
FOR GOD SO LOVED THAT HE GAVE! THE GREAT I AM WANTS YOU TO RECEIVE AND ENJOY THE GIFTS THAT HE HAS LAVISHED ON YOU! YOU DO THAT BY MAKING A DECISION TO BELIEVE AND BELIEVE IN HIM.
Sadly, many heaven-bound “believers” reject and do not receive the gifts that Jesus gave them for Christmas. They accept salvation, but reject the rest of His many gifts paid for and guaranteed by His blood.
What Gifts?
The indwelling Holy Spirit given to us to guide us into all Truth and show us the things that are to come.”
(John 14,15 and 16)
“All things that pertain to life and Godliness, including His faith!” (2Peter1:1-4)
Healing, He took away all of our diseases, maladies, sicknesses, infirmities, and calamities.
(Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:16-17, 1peter2:24)
Prosperity/abundance:
“There is one who comes but to kill, steal, and destroy. I have come that you may have life, and have it in abundance!”
The ability to gain wealth and multiply money.
(Luke 6:38, 2Corinthians 9:6-14)
The Joy and Gladness of Jesus
“I have told you these things that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy and gladness may be of full measure and complete, and overflowing!”
(John 15:11)
The ability and power to do the same things that Jesus did and even greater things than those.
(John 14:12)
The ability and power to speak things into and out of existence.
(Mark 11:22-24)
Forgiveness! Jesus has forgiven every sin we have ever committed, past, present, and future, and chosen to erase them from His memory. He has decided to have no recollection of them.
(Zephaniah 3:17, Psalm 103:1-3 and 12, John 1:29, Matthew 1:21, Hebrews 8:12, Hebrews 10:10-18, Revelation 1:5)
Sadly, many “Believers, do not believe this and are hard at work begging God to do something He did on the cross, which frankly is, I imagine, quite insulting to Him.
I urge you to stop for just a while, and receive and believe these “Great and Precious Promises” of Jesus. Look up the scriptures, ingest them, feel them, and act on them. If you do, you will make the Great I Am thrilled. Have you ever given someone a gift that you searched for and were passionate about, only to have them ignore it? Hurts, doesn’t it?
