THE GREAT COMMISSION
The last command to us from Jesus must have been to Him, the most important.
“Go then and make disciples of ALL nations, immersing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and pay attention, I am with you all the days to the close and consummation of the age.”
(Matthew 28:18-20)
There are many ways to obey this command. Those who support our work do it every day. More importantly, we can and must teach everyone we can when given the opportunity how much Jesus loves them personally. We must teach them that to prove His love for them, Jesus died the most horrid death any human ever could or would for them, just as they are. Doing so is the only way we can combat the evil that is in the world today.
THE WARNING:
Jesus warned us that the return of Jesus will be sudden and will surprise the people of the world, distracted by their focus on things of this world, widespread immorality, and violence.
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the Angels in Heaven, Nor I, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at My return. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying, up to the day Noah entered the ark, and they knew nothing of what would happen until the flood came and carried them all away. That is how it will be when I return.
At that time, two men will be in the field; one will be taken (to Heaven with Jesus), and one will be left. (to endure the great tribulation) Two women will be grinding at the hand mill; one will be taken, and one will be left.
Watch therefore, for you do not know what kind of day your Lord is coming. But understand this: had the homeowner known what time of night it was coming, he would have watched and would not have allowed his home to be undermined and broken into.
Who then is the faithful, thoughtful, and wise servant, whom his Master has put in charge of His household to give to the others the food (The Gospel, The Words of Jesus that give eternal life) and supplies at the proper time? Blessed is that servant who, when His Master comes, will find him doing so.“
(Matthew 24:36-46)
God gave the people of the world one hundred and fifty years to repent and turn to Him before the flood. His mercy endures forever. Who knows how long God will endure the outrageous behavior of this world? He could return today or one thousand years from now. We need to remember Jesus’ admonition to be ever ready! We want to report to Him when we arrive at our eternal home that we did everything possible to teach others about His Love, Grace, and Forgiveness.
THE PROMISES:
Jesus promises us that if we believe and believe in Him, we will have everlasting life in His glorious Heaven. So will those with whom we share His Gospel and receive it.
Soak in these glorious promises of Jesus:
“DO NOT let your hearts be troubled, neither be afraid. You believe in and believe God, believe and believe in Me also. In My Father’s house, there are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me so that you also may be where I Am. You know the place where I am going.”
Thomas (The unbelieving, doubter) said to Him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?
Jesus answered, ‘I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME. IF YOU HAD KNOWN ME, YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN MY FATHER. FROM NOW ON, YOU KNOW HIM AND HAVE SEEN HIM.‘
(John 14:1-7)
WHY OUR MISSION IS SO IMPORTANT! WHY OUR WORK MATTERS!
What you just read, this pronouncement from Jesus is the best news that exists. Those who believe and believe in Him will have a glorious, eternal life beyond our imagination. But, contrary to the babble of today, there is no other way. There are not many ways to Heaven; there is only one Way. That is why our work is so important. We need to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to accept that Way!
