“We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived” —
the things God has prepared for those who love Him-
These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.”
(1 Corinthians 2:3-9)
What the Holy Spirit is teaching us through this writing by our anointed teacher, Paul, is that through natural mind, it is impossible to understand the vast blessings that God has lavished on us. To understand them requires Holy Spirit revelation unavailable to those who do not believe and believe in Jesus.
Even to those of us who do, the cares of this world, the pride of life, the lust of other things, and the deceitfulness of riches open the door to mind-blinding spirits.
When we allow Holy Spirit to reprogram our minds, when we eat the flesh of Jesus, meaning to consume His Words, (when we hear them, read them, ingest them, believe them, and employ them), when our focus is on Him first, when we drink His blood, which means to choose to believe that He guaranteed every Word and Promise that He spoke with His blood, then we have His Spirit and Life within us.
To understand this point, consider how much of our time, energy, and resources we invest in the things of this world as opposed to the things of God.
It is a matter of priorities. Where do the teachings of Jesus and meditating with Holy Spirit fall on your to-do list. Where do they rank on your totem pole?
THE OTHER SIDE
There are things that God has prepared for those of us who love Him that our eyes have never seen, our ears have never heard, and that have never entered into our imagination or heart. We do not have the capacity in our natural minds to understand the things of Heaven except for those things that have been revealed to us by Jesus and through the promises given to us through Prophets and anointed teachers like Paul.
There are things, joyful things, waiting for us in Heaven that we have never seen or imagined on earth. John the disciple was shown some of them when they were revealed to him by Jesus; they are contained in the last two chapters of the book of Revelation. Some prophets, such as Isaiah, were given a glimpse of Heaven. Paul was caught up in a level of Heaven.
When Paul wrote that: “These are the things that have been revealed to us by the Holy Spirit he is writing about things that He saw.”
HERE IS THE POINT
For those of us who choose to believe and believe in Jesus, to be absent from the body is to be present with Him. (3Corinthians5:8) This will happen to all of us in the blink of an eye, no matter how long we live. Is it not well for us to invest our time and energy in joyful anticipation of our everlasting, eternal address as opposed to being caught up in the perpetual frustration of trying to conquer this one?
WE CAN ONLY IMAGINE, BUT LET’S IMAGINE.
Billy Graham was a great evangelist, but in my opinion, he made a massive mistake with one thing he said. He was giving a message about life in general and said, “That man is so heavenly minded that he is no earthly good.” The problem is that most people are the complete opposite of that. Most people are glued to earth-bound electronic devices and issues and have no focus or intention to be heavenly-minded.
I WANT TO BE SO HEAVENLY MINDED THAT I AM NO EARTHLY GOOD. THAT IS MY GOAL!
The problem is that my flesh, like all of ours, is easily distracted from that goal. So I will keep trying. Will you join me in flipping our attention?
We can start by imagining, focusing on, meditating about, and hungrily desiring those things that God has prepared for us.
That is all, folks
