“One of the great things about the State of the Union is how it gives Americans the chance to see clearly what their representatives really believe,” Trump said. “So tonight, I’m inviting every legislator to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support: The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”
KABOOM!
We avoid political statements because we represent Jesus, who loves everybody, regardless of their political affiliation.
That said, this was one of those rare moments that will go down in history as the ultimate gotcha. It is akin to the old “When Did You Stop Beating Your Wife” trap question. Those who remained seated clearly painted a picture of what they believe and where they stand.
It reminds us of Jesus and every Word He spoke. Jesus spoke in irrefutable logic.
It brings to mind the situation that the Pharisees thought they had Jesus trapped with when they threw a woman caught in the act of adultery at Him and asked Him what they thought was a gotcha question. ‘The law states that this woman should be stoned to death. What do you say?’
No matter how Jesus answered, He could be tried for it. If he said stone the woman, he would violate Roman law, which states that no Jew can execute another. If he said no, he would be in direct violation of the laws and traditions of the Hebrew people. They knew they had Jesus.
His reply trapped all of them: ‘Let whoever among you is without sin cast the first stone!‘ So all of the people, including the Pharisees, dropped their rocks and slithered off from the oldest to the youngest, because Jesus had written their individual sins in the sand in front of them.
No statement from Him is disputable. His Words are beyond argument. Every Word that He spoke is absolute Truth and can not honestly be questioned.
That is why this happened:
“BECAUSE NO MAN HAS EVER SPOKEN LIKE THIS!“
“And many of the multitude believed and believed in Him, trusted in Him. They kept asking: ‘When the Messiah comes, will He do more miracles and produce more proofs and signs than this Man has done?
The Pharisees learned that the people were saying these things about Him under their breath, and the Chief Priests and Pharisees sent their guards to arrest Him.
Jesus knew in His heart that His mocking of the rulers had sealed His fate and told the people what was going to happen.
“Meanwhile, the attendants had gone back to the Chief Priests, who asked them,’ Why have you not brought Him here with you?’
The guards had risked their very lives for this affront to what would be in our world, the Supreme Court. They could very easily have been sentenced to horrible torturous deaths for disobeying the Priests!
The guards replied, ‘NEVER HAS A MAN TALKED AS THIS MAN TALKS!’
Unlike the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Scribes of the day, who quoted authorities, Jesus spoke with direct, self-based divine authority, refuting the oppressive, repressive, and suppressive dictates of the man-made religious rulers of the day!
Jesus declared that He was the source of living water, the bread of life, and the only Way to God, which caused a huge uproar among the men who falsely called themselves rabbis and men of God, and profited from imposing unattainable standards of performance on the children of God.
The Words of Jesus are God. “In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
The Words of Jesus are as told to Paul by Holy Spirit:
The Word of God is alive and powerful. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
The Words of Jesus are greater than those of any other person in history! They reveal the Truth and the revelation of the Greatest Mystery of all times, the True will of God!
That is why Jesus left us this commandment:
“Unless you eat my flesh,(Read, consume, believe, and practice His Words) and drink my blood, (choose to believe without doubt that Jesus guaranteed EVERY Word He spoke with His blood) You have no life in you. My Words are Spirit and Life, the flesh counts for nothing.
(John 6:53-63)
