BEING OF GOOD CHEER

Our Psychologist Partner teaches us that the story we tell ourselves can fill us with hope and joy or doubt and fear; Jesus reminds us that trusting His promises can bring reassurance and peace.

Jesus taught us that from the overflow of our hearts our mouths speak, and we will have whatever we say as long as we believe without doubt that we will. The story we tell ourselves fills our hearts and directs our thoughts and speech. and the course of our lives.

(Luke 6:45-Mark 11:22)

The story we tell ourselves is constructed from the total of our life experiences and the things we learn, but most importantly, from what we choose to believe.

When we find ourselves frustrated, afraid, or anxious, it’s because we have allowed thoughts that oppose the Gospel of Jesus to take hold. Choosing to trust His promises can restore our peace and confidence.

When we pause to meditate on Jesus’ Great and Precious Promises, trusting and acting on them strengthens our faith and promotes peace regardless of current circumstances. Believing them requires us to engage our imaginations in a positive gear and to dig in, refusing not to believe them no matter what!

When we are in a bad place, Holy Spirit can reprogram our minds from negative to positive, inspiring us to maintain faith and joy if we call upon Him.

Here are some messages from God through scripture, meant to bring us joy, peace, and strength when we face fear and doubt, encouraging us to trust in His promises.

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one

of them are forgotten or uncared for in the presence of

God.”

“But even the hairs on your head (and every single one of the hundreds of trillions of cells in our bodies) are all numbered. Do not be struck with fear or seized with alarm, you are worth

more than many flocks of sparrows.

(Luke 12:6&7)

“But no weapon that is forged against you shall prosper,

and every voice that shall rise against you in judgment

you shall show to be wrong. This PEACE, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition is the heritage of the servants of the Lord; this is the righteousness, or the vindication which they obtain from Me, says the Lord.”

(Isaiah 54:17)

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have

PERFECT PEACE and confidence. In the world, you have

tribulation and trials and distresses and frustrations, but be of GOOD CHEER! For I have overcome the world.

(John 16:33)

Being of Good Cheer is a COMMANDMENT FROM JESUS and it is a decision we make based on our belief in Jesus’ teachings.

Peace I give you; My own peace I now give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

(John 14:26-27)

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

(Matthew 28:20

WHAT IS THE STORY THAT YOU TELL YOURSELF?

I challenge you to be completely honest with yourself. Is the story that you tell yourself a composite of the promises of Jesus, or is it constructed on the influence of the evil one and negativity deposited in your heart by the evil one, world events, and circumstances beyond your control?
