THE MEANING OF “IT IS FINISHED”

THE MEANING OF “IT IS FINISHED

I know it sounds rather obvious. But, those are the three most important Words ever spoken. They are the last Words that Jesus said before exiting His earth suit.

They were a declaration from Jesus. Certainly, they were of urgent importance to Him. Surely, Jesus chose them with intent and purpose. He wants us to know that He left nothing undone. Jesus wants us to know that there is nothing left for Him to do. He wants us to know and believe that He did everything for us and guaranteed all of His astonishing promises with His blood.

Why? Never forget, Jesus did everything for you personally!! All of His pain and suffering and every single thing He did is because of His infinite love for you personally.

Frankly, I think that very few”believers” actually grasp and accept the fullness of the Word “FINISHED.”

Those three Words are the basis of the Holy Spirit dictated book, “WHY JESUS AIN’T GONNA DO NOTHIN!”

Meaning Jesus has already done everything. Therefore we no longer need to ask Him for anything. We only need to thank Him and receive by believing what He has already done, which is everything.

I know; Jesus said, “ask.” But that was before He died on the cross, did everything, and guaranteed His promises with His blood.

What did Jesus finish? The mystery of the ages. He finished God’s master plan created to overcome the sin and death that entered the world when the stench in His nostrils convinced Adam and Eve to sin by partaking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Jesus completed God’s plan to redeem the world from the wages of sin. He paid for all sins by carrying them in His body on the cross and forgave all of our sins once and for all, past, present, and future, and in doing so, chose not to be able to recall any of our sins.

(1 Peter 2:24, Psalms 103:1-3 and 12, Zephaniah 3:15-17,

Hebrews 8:10-12, Hebrews 10:10-18, John 1:29)

Now, our salvation and receipt of the “Great and Precious Promises” of Jesus are guaranteed by His blood and our belief, not by our performance, but by Jesus’ righteousness.

(John 6:28-29)

Check this declaration from Holy Spirit through Peter:

Simon Peter a servant and apostle of Jesus to those(all who believe in and believe Jesus)who have(past, present tense meaning already) received like precious faith with ourselves in and through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus:

How Wonderful! So the first “Great and Precious Promise” of Jesus is that we receive His faith when we believe Him not through what we do but through His righteousness. Peter continues…

May grace (God’s willingness, ability, and power that has done those things for us which we can not or will not do for ourselves.) and peace (which is perfect well being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and our Lord Jesus.

For His divine power has(past tense meaning already) given us ALL(Meaning ALL) things that are necessary for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence.

By means of these, He has given us His “PRECIOUS AND EXCEEDINGLY GREAT PROMISES” so that through them, you may escape from the moral decay that is in the world because of covetousness and become sharers of the divine nature.”

Meaning, that if we believe and receive through our free gift of the faith of Jesus that He has already given us everything we want or need, we have no need to sin in an attempt to get what we already have.

What are the “PRECIOUS AND EXCEEDINGLY GREAT PROMISES” of Jesus?

They are infinite, just as He is. Consider this teaching to us from Holy Spirit through Paul:

But on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard and has not entered into the hearts of man all that God has prepared for those who love Him. Yet to us God has unveiled and revealed them by and through His Spirit, for Holy Spirit searches diligently, exploring and examining everything, even sounding the profound and bottomless things of God“.

(1Corinthians2;9-10)

Here are a few:

FORGIVENESS OF ALL OF OUR SINS AND ETERNAL LIFE WITH GOD THE FATHER, GOD JESUS, AND GOD HOLY SPIRIT.

(John 3:16-18, Romans 10:9-10)

GIVING US THE INDWELLING OF HOLY SPIRIT, WHO GUIDES US INTO ALL TRUTH AND SHOWS US THE THINGS TO COME!

(John 16:7-14)

HEALING OF ALL DISEASES KNOWN AND UNKNOWN BY JESUS CARRYING THEM IN HIS BODY ON THE CROSS.

(Isaiah 53:4-5, Psalm 103:3, Matthew 8:16-17, 1 Peter 2:24)

GIVING US HIS POWER

(John 14:12-14)

GIVING US THE POWER TO SPEAK THINGS IN AND OUT OF EXISTENCE.

(Mark 11:22-24)

DEFEATING THE EVIL ONE TAKING AWAY HIS POWERS, AND GIVING US DOMINION OVER HIM AND ALL OF HIS POWERS.

(Luke 10:18-19)
