God Ain’t No Santy Claws!

“God Ain’t Santy Claws!”

A couple of nights ago Jesus and I were
chatting it up. I asked my King why so many
of His saved children are still trying to motivate Him
by their behavior. Instantly a very old memory from
when I was very young in the Word, came upon me.

There he stood at the pulpit bigger than
Wayne Newton. The look of him was pure
anger. Fire came out of his nostrils and smoke came
out of his ears.

Soon he began to faunch and bellow like an
old Bull. His eyes turned blood red. Then the
pompous old windbag began to bloviate. He was
shouting into the microphone so loud that he hurt
my ears in the highest row in the balcony. He rared up
and let it fly:

“You people need to know that GOD AIN’T SANTY CLAWS!!!!!!!”

It was not clear to me at first what the mean old dude
meant by those words. It was clearly obvious that it
meant something like this:

God does not give us whatever we want. We have to earn
everything we get from Him through hard labor and perfect behavior. As if any of that were possible.

The old hellfire and damnation pulpit pounder was right
about one thing, GOD AIN’T SANTY CLAWS.

God is real and Santy is not. God is about grace and Santy is not. God does not keep a record of wrongs. Santy has a list
and is checking it twice to find out who is naughty or nice.
God does not distribute blessings by measuring our behavior,
He freely gave us all things, once, on the cross. God does not have a lump of coal. Santy gives lumps of coal to bad boys and girls. God has freely given us all things that pertain to life and Godliness; beginning with His infinite love for us.

We were indoctrinated with a works-based relationship with God from our earliest years by the mythic fairy. We learned
that we must be good or else Christmas would be bad.

As adults, those paradigms remain. The message that, If dear sweet Santy is about earning gifts, then certainly God is also; is embedded in our persona’s. As a result, we try to be good in order to please God.

In fact, it is utterly impossible to earn anything from God. What we receive from God has nothing to do with performance. We receive from God by employing steadfastly the free gift of His Faith, that we receive upon believing on Him.

Here are a few scriptures that explain God’s system for
receiving by faith what He has already given us by faith,
which is everything:

Romans 8:32, John 14:12, John 15:7, 2Peter1:1-4, Mark 11:22-24, Matthew 18:18-20, Mattew 8:16-17, Isaiah 53:4-5 amplified.

The old hellfire and damnation dude has no clue who Jesus is. There is nothing we can do to make God love us more or less. He cherishes us so much that He came to earth and suffered all of the indignities of humanity including the worst death imaginable to ransom us from our sins. Now, all we need do is this:

Jesus had just mortified the Jews by telling them that He was the replacement for the 610 man made ordinances and the 10 commandments given to Moses. They went nuts.

Then they said, What are we to do, that we may habitually
be working the works of God? [What are we to do to carry out
what God requires?

Jesus replied, “This is the work that God asks of you; that you
believe int he One Whom He has sent!”(John 6:28-29)

You just read it! Straight from the King of Kings. All that He requires of us is to believe in Him!!! Period! Period! Period! [Period, Period, Period, courtesy of Joe Biden.]

No, Jesus is not Santy Claws…

Would you rather have a God like Santy Claws who keeps score and rewards you based on your performance? Or a God who doesn’t keep a record of our sins and rewards us based on His behavior? The choice is yours.

Here is one of my favorite scriptures:
“The Lord your God is in your midst,
A Warrior who saves.
He will rejoice over you with joy;
He will be quiet in His love [making no mention of your past sins], He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
(Zephaniah 3:17)

Zephaniah was a prophet, God showed him what our
relationship would be like when Jesus came and we chose to
make Him our King.
