The Commandments of Jesus

“The one who has MY commands (not the Hebrew law) And keeps them is the one who really loves me; and whoever really loves Me will be loved by My Father and I too will love him and will show (reveal, manifest ) Myself to him. I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.”

“Judas, not Iscariot, asked Him, Lord, how is it that You will reveal Yourself (make yourself real) to us and not to the world?”

“Jesus answered, “If a person really loves me, he will keep My Word (obey My teaching), and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place.”
(John 14:21-23 Amplified)

Ever since Jesus spoke these Words, people who are bound to the Hebrew Law that NEVER EVER applied to them, have been pointing to this statement to justify putting Gentiles under that Law.
(Ephesians 2:8-12, Galatians Chapter 3)

How can they misunderstand the clear and plain word,
MY?

So the works thumpers cling to the old Law that Jesus fulfilled for the Jews and made them free from the Law of sin and death. Ask them to quote one of Jesus’ commands.

Those of us who love Jesus should know His Words and obey them not out of works but out of love for Him. Therefore, would it not be good to know what those commands are?

Here then are some of the many commands of Jesus:

“Believe on the one whom He has sent!’ (period) This is ALL that God requires of us! (John 6:28-28)

Love the Lord
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. (Matthew 22:37–38).

Love Your Neighbor
“The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’” (Matthew 22:39).

“A new commandment I give to you that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” (John 13:34).

“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.” (John 15:12). “This I command you that you love one another.” (John 15:17).

“Seek you first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness (Jesus and His Gospel) and all of these things taken together will be given to you besides.”
(Matthew 6:33)

“Do NOT worry!
“So DO NOT WORRY! or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own.”
(Matthew 6:34)

Be of GOOD cheer!
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world, you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous and of GOOD CHEER!! [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished My victory abiding. (John 16:33)

Let Your Light Shine
“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16).

Be Reconciled
“Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.” (Matthew 5:23–24).

Love Your Enemies
“But I say to you, love [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for] your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may [show yourselves to] be the children of your Father who is in Heaven; for He makes His sun rise on those who are evil and on those who are good, and makes the rain fall on the righteous (Those who love Jesus and believe are made righteous not by what they do but by what He did.)

And the unrighteous (the unrepentant, those who oppose Him). For if you love [only] those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do that? (Matthew 5:44-46)

Be Perfect
(Which you are if you believe in Jesus)
“For if you love [only] those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do that? And if you greet only your brothers [wishing them God’s blessing and peace], what more [than others] are you doing? Do not even the Gentiles [who do not know the Lord] do that?
You, therefore, will be perfect [growing into spiritual maturity both in mind and character, actively integrating godly values into your daily life], as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
(Matthew5:48)

Lay Up Your Treasures In Heaven
“Do not store up for yourselves [material] treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will also be.” (Matthew 6:19)

Treasures in Heaven begin with believing and loving and trusting and relying on Jesus and believing ALL of His Words.

More are added when we serve others and Jesus here on earth. Jesus believers will not be judged on judgment day for sins. Jesus will judge us by our good works and reward each of us according to what we have done for others here on earth.

Seek First the Kingdom of God
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33).

Judge Not
“Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly]. For just as you [hypocritically] judge others [when you are sinful and unrepentant], so will you be judged; and in accordance with your standard of measure [used to pass out judgment], judgment will be measured to you.”

“Why do you look at the [insignificant] speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice and acknowledge the [egregious] log that is in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:1-3)

Do Not Give What is Holy to Dogs
“Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” (Matthew 7:6).

The Golden Rule
Do to others what you would have them do to you. So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 7:12).

Try applying this command to your tipping and giving. It is my guiding scripture when deciding what to give.

Enter through the Narrow Gate That leads to Life
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few find it.” (Matthew 7:13–14).

Entering the narrow gate means to believe every single Word that Jesus said no matter what we think, see, touch, taste, feel, or smell. Very few do. This is not an eternal condemnation! It means that if you want to live a life of Heaven on earth, you must believe EVERY WORD that came through Jesus.

Pray for Laborers For The Harvest
“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom and curing all kinds of disease and every weakness and infirmity.

When He saw the multitudes, He was moved with pity and sympathy for them, because they were bewildered (harassed and distressed and dejected and helpless), like sheep without a shepherd.

Then He said to His disciples, The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:35-38)
Meaning: Pray that Men and Women called by Jesus to teach the full Gospel of Jesus will teach them correctly and that those willing to teach the un-compromised or
not watered down truth of the Words of Jesus will stand strong and feed His sheep.

Be Wise as Serpents and harmless as doves
“Behold, I send you forth as sheep amid wolves: be therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves” (Matthew 10:16).

Do not fear those who can kill the body
“Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28 Luke 12:4–5)

Hear /listen to God’s Voice
“He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.”
(Matthew 11:15, John 10:3-5).

Go to Jesus for Rest
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28–30).

Beware of Leaven / false teaching from Pharisees and Sadducees!
“Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees” (Matthew 16:6).
Meaning: anyone who tries to put you into a works based relationship with God!

Deny Yourself (Your Flesh Mind)
“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gains the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?” (Luke 9:23–25).

Denying Yourself means to live in the Spirit and not your flesh. It means to not cast your eyes on the things that are seen but the things that are not seen, because the things that are seen are temporary and subject to change; but the things of God are unchanging and eternal!

Picking up your cross daily means to make a decision every day to internalize the Words of Jesus and believe that He guaranteed every one of them with His blood/

Beware of Covetousness /Greed
“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses” (Luke 12:15).

Check this out: We have been given ALL THINGS that pertain to life and Godliness through the full and complete knowledge of Jesus, including His Faith!
(2Peter1:1) So why would we covet or lust after anything?

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” (Luke 12:15).NIV

Lead by being a Servant
“Whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; and whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:26–28).

Use the power that He gave us:
“Solemnly I say to you, WHOSOEVER steadfastly believes in me shall do the same things that I do and even greater than these shall he do because I go to My Father!
(John 14:12)

Live in Him and make His Words live in you!
“If you live in Me and My Words live in you, ask
WHATEVER you wish and it SHALL be done for you.
(John 15:7)

Speak things into existence

Jesus replied, “Have faith in God [constantly].  I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and [a]does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will].For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you. (Mark 11:22-24)

The late great Word Teacher Brother Loyd Skidmore coined a phrase that summarizes the Gospel of Jesus:
“Believe and Receive, Doubt and do without! Those words pretty much sum up Mark 11:22-24

Be Born Again
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again” (John 3:5–7).

We have to be careful about this teaching. Jesus did not mean that if you are not born again as described below, that you can’t get into heaven. He meant that you will never enter into Heaven on earth if you aren’t changed and led of the Spirit and not the Flesh. Otherwise, there would be very few if any who could qualify to enter the Kingdom of God.

Being born again means to take off the old un-regenerated self and put on the new person you became when you believed Jesus. Shed your old sinful nature and snakeskin and become an entirely new person led by Jesus and His Words and by the Holy Spirit.

These are but a few of more than 50 commands that Jesus gave us. If you love Him, you will try your best to obey them.

You have to know them to obey them. That is why it is so important to meditate on the Word night and day!

Jesus emphatically explained that He was the replacement for the Hebrew Law in the entire Chapter 6 of Johns Gospel.

No one is under the impossible to keep ten commandments, and their accompanying 603 ordinances because Jesus fulfilled them.

That is of course unless they ignorantly place themselves under them, which is stupid and impossible.

If you place yourself under the Hebrew law and you brake on of them in thought or in deed, you are responsible for keeping all of them, all 603 man made ordinances and the ten commandments.

Let me know how that works for you! Let me know how you are doing on the first one. By the way, if you fail to perfectly keep the law, your are under the curse of the law! Very Gruesome!!!!!
If your stomach can handle it, read the curse of the Law in (Deuteronomy 28:15-68)

At the moment of His last breath the Jews who were the only people under the Law, were made free of it when Jesus breathed His last breath, and the veil in the temple was torn into from top to bottom. (Matthew 27:51, Ephesians 2:8-12, Galatians 3)

The only commandments now are these and all of the 40 More. I suggest you search them out. That will be a fun research project.

Remember that Jesus said those who love me will keep MY Commands. He did not say that there would be consequences for those who fail to keep them. He meant that keeping His commands is a demonstration of how deeply we love Him.\]

Please believe The Holy Spirit who dictated this statement to our teacher, Paul:

“Therefore there is now NO CONDEMNATION[no guilty verdict, no punishment] FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN JESUS [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior].” (Romans 8:1) Please note that there are no if’s and’s, Yes but’s or other qualifiers to this statement of fact.

My Prayer is that this teaching has blessed and guided you into new truths. Thank you for being open minded and willing to learn!
