How to Love Jesus Back

HOW TO LOVE JESUS BACK

This Easter, I felt completely overwhelmed by the Love of Jesus. Then, I began to think about how a mere human can express adequate gratitude to our Lord and Savior for all the sacrifices and pain He suffered for us. Then this message filled my spirit.

For God so dearly loved you (fill in your name here) personally, just the way you are, without regard for your behavior, that He chose to leave the glory of His Heavenly realm, don an earth suit, walk the earth with all of its temptations, trials, and tribulations, be tempted at all points as we are for thirty-three years, be humiliated, rejected, tortured, suffered death from crucifixion and died from every disease known and unknown on the cross, just to give you the keys to the kingdom so that you who are His glorious inheritance would be able to spend eternity with Him sharing in His glory. That is how much God the Father, God Jesus, and God Holy Spirit love you.

(John 3:16-18, 1 Peter 2:24, Isaiah 53:4-5, Psalm 103:1-3 and 12, John 1:29, Matthew 8:16-17)

Now because of His incomprehensible love and sacrifice, all that He requires from us is to “BELIEVE ON THE ONE WHOM HE HAS SENT!”

(John 6:28-29)

This statement, dictated by Holy Spirit to our teacher Paul, describes perfectly how much Jesus loves you.

While we were weak and full of sin, Jesus died for the ungodly at the fitting time. Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a noble and lovable and generous benefactor, someone might even dare to die. But God shows and proves His own love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us.

(Romans 5:8)

Jesus proved His love for us. He demonstrated a type of love that is beyond human comprehension. So why would God become a human and die a horrendous death for sinners? In our way of thinking, it makes no sense.

But God told us that it is impossible for humans to understand Him because His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts, for His ways are above our ways, and His thoughts are above our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

So since Jesus loves us unconditionally, wholly, and infinitely, shouldn’t we love Him back to the best of our ability? But how? Jesus told us how.

Jesus taught us that if we love Him, we will keep HIS commands, Not the ten commandments and the six hundred and three attached ordinances which never applied to anyone but Jews, but HIS commands.

(Ephesians 2:8-9)

Here are a few:

Love each other as I have loved you.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Do Not Worry or be anxious about anything.

Take no thought for tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble. (meaning, live in this present moment).

Judge not lest you be judged.

Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither be afraid. You believe in God; also believe in Me.

This is the work that God requires of you, that you believe in the one whom He has sent.

Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.

Live in Me, and I will live in you.

Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out lepers, freely you have received, freely give.”

(John 13:34, Matthew 7:12, Matthew 6:25-34, Matthew 7:1, John 14:1 and 27, John 6:28-29, Luke 6:38, John 15:4 Matthew 10:8)

These are just some of the commands of Jesus which He asked us to obey. Obeying them is a sign of the depth of our belief in Him and our love for Him.

In one of Jesus’s most iconic messages, the sermon on the Mount, also known as the Beatitudes, He clearly outlined the evidence of those who love Him:

Blessed, spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired are the poor in spirit, those devoid of spiritual arrogance, and those who regard themselves as insignificant, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the gentle, the kind-hearted, the sweet-spirited, and the self-controlled, for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness and actively seek right standing with God, for they will be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character, for they will see God.

Blessed are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they will be called the sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for doing that which is morally right, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil things against you because of your relationship with Me. Be glad and exceedingly joyful, for your reward in Heaven is absolutely inexhaustible; for in this same way, they persecuted the prophets before you.”

(Matthew 5:1-12)

THERE IT IS:

Holy Spirit and Jesus answered my question. We can Love Jesus back by obeying His commands. We can love each other as He loved us. We can change the world by teaching the unqualified love of Jesus for every person to as many as possible.

We can believe and receive that love and demonstrate it in our lives and in the lives of others by obeying His commands.

WE CAN LOVE JESUS BACK BY OBEYING HIS
