“For he who has once entered God’s rest also has ceased from the weariness and pain of human labors. Just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own.
Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience into which those in the wilderness fell.
(Hebrews 4:10-11)
The stunning unbelief of the Jews, whom God delivered from the bondage of slavery in Jesus, caused them to die in the wilderness instead of entering the land flowing with milk and honey that God promised them.
Our unbelief in the promises of Jesus can cause us not to receive them, just as the unbelieving Jews of old failed to receive their promises from God.
A declaration from the King of Kings and Lord of Lords:
“Come to me, all of you who labor and are heavy laden, and I WILL GIVE YOU REST. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I AM GENTLE AND LOWLY OF HEART, and you will find REST FOR YOUR SOULS, because MY YOKE IS EASY and MY BURDEN IS LIGHT.“
(Matthew 11:28-30)
Are you tired and stressed? Do current events or the cares of this world weigh heavily on you? Are you worried, anxious, fearful, sad, frustrated, and even angry about the things that you can not change?
Remember the great Serenity Prayer of Alcoholics Anonymous, which has brought peace to millions of people:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
A teaching from Jesus about the problems and vicissitudes of this life:
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world, you will find tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; BUT BE OF GOOD CHEER FOR I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD!”
(John 16:33)
A command from Jesus accompanied by a glorious promise:
“DO NOT let your hearts be troubled. YOU BELIEVE IN GOD; BELIEVE IN ME ALSO.“
(John 14:1)
“Peace I leave you; My Peace I now bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. DO NOT LET YOUR HEARTS BE TROUBLED, NEITHER LET THEM BE AFRAID. Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed, and do not permit yourselves to be fearful, intimidated, cowardly, and unsettled.”
(John 14:27)
When we fail to enter into the joy, gladness, peace, and rest of Jesus, it is almost always because we forget, ignore, do not believe, or are ignorant of the Great and Precious Promises of Jesus. It is also frequently because we want to fly the plane instead of allowing the King of Kings to take the controls.
These directions from Emmanuel, God with us, remind us to stop digging when we are in a hole and stop pushing the boulder up the hill.

As I read this message that Holy Spirit just directed me to type, I am thinking of four Women who are part of our ministry. They all represent the life that He just described. One lost her husband at a young age and has been on her own ever since, yet whistles through life. Three of them have seen their children transition to their glorious future with Jesus, yet they courageously proceed with their lives, smiling and blessing others, and praising their Lord.
Remember, whatever is distracting you from the Rest of God doesn’t matter and is most probably a false event appearing real.
