WHAT JESUS BOUGHT AND GUARANTEED US WITH HIS BLOOD PART FOUR.
Here is the fourth teaching of a series about what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross, including His blood-bought and guaranteed promises.
This message dictated by the Holy Spirit is about the great and precious promise of NEWNESS OF LIFE!
Don’t we all deep inside wish to have a better, happier, more content life? Do you ever get overwhelmed and tired of being the director of the play? Especially in today’s world, aren’t we all looking for relief, rest, peace, and happiness?
Wouldn’t it be great to be at ease and be undisturbed?
The Holy Spirit calls it, “entering into His rest.”
COME TO JESUS! GIVE HIM YOUR CARES AND WORRIES AND BURDENS!
It matters little how long we have been saved or gone to church. Even if we have a deep personal knowledge of and relationship with Jesus when the Vigaro hits the Mixmaster or in a more modern dialect, when the well-known substance hits the fan, we tend to forget all about Jesus and try to deal with the world all by ourselves.
Jesus loves you so very much, just the way you are. He wants to hug you and love on you and comfort you. Read what Jesus spoke to us in this day:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet for your souls; for My yoke is wholesome (useful, good -not harsh, hard, sharp or pressing, but comfortable, gracious and pleasant) and My burden is light and easy to be borne.”(Matthew 11:28-29)
I am convinced without doubt that the key to newness of life is the WILLINGNESS TO CHANGE, THEN CHANGING!
Jesus told the doubting, self-serving, frightenedNicodemus who knew He was God but refused to worship Him openly, That He could not understand God’s things by entering into the Kingdom on earth unless He was born anew.
When Jesus said that no one could enter the Kingdom of God unless he is born again, He was not talking about salvation. He was talking about seeing the unseen and understanding God. The only requirement for salvation is to believe and believe in Jesus.(John 3:16, Romans 10:9, John 6:28-29)
Jesus was talking about being born of the Spirit. Meaning: opening our eyes and ears to the Holy Spirit’s guidance and not our finite minds. Not everybody who accepts and believes in Jesus is reborn. Very few are. Remember when Jesus said that the path is very narrow and few are they who find it? He was talking about those who abandon their lives to the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit and are thus born anew.
Think about a person you know who has accepted Jesus and claims to be a “believer” but has not changed one bit. Yes, they are saved, but they are definitely not born again, which requires change.
Here is a message that the Holy Spirit gave to us through Paul, our God-appointed teacher:
”If in fact, you have really heard Jesus and have been taught by Him, just as truth is in Jesus that, regarding your previous way of life, you put off your old self [completely discard your former nature], which is being corrupted through deceitful desires, and be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude], and put on the new self the regenerated and renewed nature, created in God’s image, in the righteousness and holiness of the truth!”
“Therefore, rejecting all falsehood [whether lying, defrauding, telling half-truths, spreading rumors, any such as these], speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are all parts of one another and we are all parts of the body of Jesus. Be angry [at sin—at immorality, at injustice, at ungodly behavior], yet do not sin; do not let your anger [cause you shame, nor allow it to] last until the sun goes down. And do not allow the devil to lead you into sin by holding a grudge, or nurturing anger, or harboring resentment, or cultivating bitterness. The thief must no longer steal, but instead, he must work hard making an honest living, producing that which is good with his own hands, so that he will have something to share with those in need.(Ephesians 4:24-28)
King Jesus simplified the difference between a life submitted to and guided by the Holy Spirit and a life guided by the finite human brain:
“It is the Spirit Who gives life [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no profit in it]. The Words that I have been speaking to you are Spirit and life.”
(John 6:64)
HERE IS THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION YOU HAVE BEEN CONSIDERING: “WHAT DOES LIVING BY THE SPIRIT MEAN?”
All of my life, I have heard people say: “Live by the Spirit!” I never knew what that meant, and I don’t believe that they did either. You just read Jesus’s explanation.
”The Words That I Have Been Speaking To You Are Spirit and Life.” He also stated that unless we eat His Flesh and drink His blood, we have no life in us. Eating Jesus’ flesh means to ingest His Words, to consume them, and make them the most crucial thing in our lives, because, Jesus is His Words. Ingesting the Words of Jesus fills us with the Holy Spirit. Listening to His Words and believing them above all else and following them, is “LIVING IN THE SPIRIT” Drinking His blood means to decide to believe without question that Jesus guaranteed every Word that He spoke with His blood.
So Jesus’s Words are Spirit! Life in the Spirit is to consume and believe and employ His Words. Jesus told us that He would leave us the Holy Spirit, who would guide us into all truth and show us the things to come.
The voice of the Holy Spirit is that voice in your mind that you know is not yours or the evil ones. It is the voice that tells you how much Jesus loves you just as you are.
We get all caught up in the circumstances surrounding us and what they portend, and forget that our finite minds are limited, but the mind of the Holy Spirit is infinite and contains all knowledge. When we try to deal with the issues of life on earth on our own, we are blinded to the limitless power, truth, strength, courage, and knowledge we possess in the Spirit.
A pertinent message from God in the person of God The Father:
“Seek, inquire for, and require the Lord while He may be found [claiming Him by necessity and right]; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have love, pity, and mercy for him, and to our God, for He will multiply to him His abundant pardon.
My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
(Isaiah 55:8-9)
Consider my friend Jim’s favorite scripture from Jesus:
“In this world you will have tribulation, but be of Good Cheer![take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world.” [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]
Meaning: Do not be worried, anxious, afraid! Whatever the trials and tribulations appear in your life, I HAVE OVERCOME.
The Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth and shows us the things to come gave Paul this message about the life of an old unregenerate unbeliever, and a life guided by through and for the Holy Spirit, who is God the Father and God Jesus in Spirit form:
Now the behavior of the flesh is obvious: immorality, impurity, indecency, idolatry, (Idolatry means wanting anything more than one desires God, I,e. Television, Internet, The good thoughts of others, Money) sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit, factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like.
I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. (Because they do not surrender their lives to Jesus! People who live lives of continual sin of the nature of these will never convince me that they have accepted Jesus.)
But the fruit of the Holy Spirit, the work which His presence within accomplishes is LOVE, JOY, GLADNESS, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, SELF RESTRAINT AND CONTROL. Against such things, no law can bring a charge.
Those who belong to Jesus have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with their passions, appetites, and desires.
If we live by the Holy Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. If by the Holy Spirit, we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit. Let us not become vainglorious and self-conceited, competitive, challenging, provoking, and irritating to one another, envying and being jealous of one another.”(Galatians 5:19-26)
A huge step toward living a life guided by the Holy Spirit is directed again by the Holy Spirit through Paul:
“For our light, momentary affliction, this slight distress of the passing hour is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!
Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the unseen, for the visible things are temporal (temporary and subject to change), but the invisible things are deathless and everlasting.”(2Corinthians4:17-18)
Meaning: Believing in Jesus brings salvation. Believing in Jesus requires believing the unseen more than the seen.
Believing all of Jesus’ great and precious promises and receiving them requires believing the unseen more than the seen.
Think about this, which is greater the unseen or the seen?Who is more powerful and true, the Creator or the creation? Yet the creation believes that it is greater than it’s Creator. That is why the world is in the mess it is today.
When we try to deal with the world with our finite vision and minds, we struggle. When we let the Holy Spirit guide us into all truth and follow His guidance, life is like a hot knife through soft butter.
Being led by the Spirit and becoming willing to change and changing produces a life blessed beyond our capacity to comprehend.
Jesus gave us the power to become the sons and daughters of God, simply by believing and believing in Him. (John 1:12)
CHOOSE TO CHANGE! CHOOSE LIFE, CHOOSE TO BE
LED OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, CHOOSE TO BECOME A NEW CREATION IN JESUS. IT IS NOT YOU THAT LIVES, BUT JESUS THAT LIVES WITHIN YOU.
Take off the old self and put on the new. Accept, enjoy, seek with all of your beings, NEWNESS OF LIFE!
