We all have hero’s/heroin’s. Of course my biggest Hero is our Lord Jesus/The Holy Spirit/Our Father God. My earthly hero is and always has been my uncle Jim (Captain J.D. Fleming). Jim is a great American Hero from WWII. He flew 52 Combat missions in his B24 “Stardust”, over the most heavily defended targets in Europe. He participated in many of the greatest air battles in the war. Including but not limited to: Schwienfurt, Regensburg, Viena, Ploesti, Frankfurt, Wiener-Nuestad, Submarine bases in Italy, Oil fields in Romania and he survived a horrible crash in Wales on a secret mission. He received the Air Medal with oak leaves, 2Bronze stars with oak leave clusters, 2 distinguished flying crosses,the purple heart and many more. He is now 95 years old and was recently Knighted and presented the French Legion Of Honor for gallantry in battle against German held positions in France, at the Georgia state capitol.
Jim is one of the most brilliant people I have ever met. He is a card carrying Mensa Genius and a great story teller and Author. He wrote a fantastic book about his adventures in Stardust, Titled, “With Wings As Eagles”. The book was highly acclaimed by the greatest flyers of the day.
The thing that I am most proud of my Uncle Jim about, is His love of Jesus! Jim is a devout Jesus Freak. He was a deacon/usher in his Baptist home church for more than 50 years. Most importantly my Hero knows Jesus. He knows Jesus’ heart. He walks the very narrow path. Not long ago, Jim wrote to tell me that He read and loved my book, “What If Jesus Told The Truth?”. Even though the book conflicts with some traditional Baptist Doctrine. Jim wrote that He had “Never heard the Gospel explained more accurately!” No one else in my family, save my Irish Twin sister has ever read or complimented the book.
Yesterday, Jesus blew my socks off !!! Which He does frequently. The greatest gift that God has ever given me in ministry came in the mail. It was for Jim a significant offering to Throne of Grace Ministries. It wasn’t the offering that touched my heart to the point of tears, It was the thought. Jim’s statement in that offering, was that He believes in me and the work I do! Nobody else in my entire family except my children has ever made a contribution to Throne of Grace in nearly 20 years of ministry, with the exception of my Irish Twin Sister.
Jesus explained it like this: “A prophet is without honor only in his home town, among his relatives and in his own household.””And He could there do no mighty work, save that He laid His hands upon a few sick folk and healed them. And He marveled at their unbelief.” You read it correctly! Jesus’ family and neighbors and friends, denied His Anointing and His Deity. They said He was only the son of a carpenter and that they knew His brothers and sisters. They asked, How can this man be whom he claims to be? Their perception was so dull that they could not see who He really Is. (Mark 6:4)
IMAGINE THAT!!!!! GOD HIMSELF IN THE PERSON OF JESUS STOOD AMONG THEM! AND THEY REJECTED HIM! THEY REFUSED TO BELIEVE HIS WORDS! Nothing new here. God has been sending HIs message through special messengers throughout all time, Angels, Prophets, Jesus, Teachers, Evangelists, and most people reject the Word delivered to them personally by God, in the person of the Holy Spirit.
Why? Because the Gospel gives us the same power as Jesus Had. Because the Glory of God is in His Words and they perceive them to be too good to be true. The evil one has tainted their beliefs with the same words He has been using since Eve. (“Surely He Did Not Say!!) Find out if you believe Jesus’ message, read (John 6:28-29 Mark11:22-24, John 14:12-14, 2Peter 1:1-3, Isaiah 53:4-5, Luke 10:18-19) If you believe these without adding to or subtracting from them by saying things like, “Yes But You Must Pray In His Will” which Jesus never said, You are on the very very narrow path.
That is exactly how it is in ministry.This may sound egotistical but it is not because I seek no glory except that Jesus be believed and honored and praised. God sent me to everyone whom I teach, with a special message directly from Him for them personally, and an un-compromised view of The Gospel Of Jesus. This is because He wants His people empowered to the highest degree possible in these days. Sadly, neither my King nor I, can force people to accept the truth of His Gospel. That is what free will is all about.
HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS!!! SOME PEOPLE (Hopefully You) RECEIVE AND BELIEVE THE TRUTH! Even if it disagrees with the old time religion that they have been taught. Those people are God’s favorites like Caleb, because just as Caleb, they have a different Spirit. They have found the very narrow road that Jesus described.
None of the more than 100,000 people that we have ministered to in hundreds of countries around the world and virtually every major city in America, has ever asked me who ordained me and where I went to seminary, but one of my siblings has. My answer for the record is: What Seminary did Jesus attend? Who was His teacher? Did He need to learn hermeneutics or exegetes or engage in endless doctrinal point/counter point?
An amazing thing happened in Jesus’ life. His family thought He was nuts, because of the content of His teachings and promises. They feared that He would get Hiimself (and them) killed with His radical teaching. So they searched Him out and found Him teaching in the Synagogue; then this happened:
While he was still talking to the crowds, it happened that His mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to Him. Someone said to Him, Look! Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside asking to speak to you. But Jesus replied to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My Brothers? Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and brothers. For whoever does the will of My Father are My brothers and sisters and Mother!”
(Matthew 12:48-50)
So, I wrote that to write this: Jesus has always blessed my socks off! That offering meant more to me than winning the lottery! And the Holy Spirit knew it! That is why He moved on Jim’s heart to do it! I was totally blindsided. Do you see why I love my sweet Jesus so much? Jesus couldn’t physically write me an affirmation, So He used the person that I admire the most on this planet, to do it for Him!
Folks, I am here to write to you, that when you give yourselves to Jesus; He gives Himself to you!!! Jesus spoke this beautiful promise to us:
“IF you abide (live) in Me, and My Word abides (lives and breathes in you), ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified in this, that you will bear much fruit!” (Please note and/ check for yourselves and see that Jesus did not add to this promise, these words…”But You Must Pray In My Will”
(John 15:7)
Allow me to explain this scripture: If we abide (make Jesus/The Holy Spirit/Father God) our home, and Their Word is alive and breathing inside of us, Our belief and faith are fully engaged and we will receive whatever the desires of our heart are. So that, we will be excited and full of joy and that we will draw others to ourselves and then to Him!
Folks it blesses God’s socks off when we are happy and joyous!!! Because when we are happy and joyous, it means we believe Him. And our Father is always happy and joyous!!!!!! Of course unbelief and bad behavior make Him sad, But God’s very nature is Love and Happiness. He wants us to be happy so much, that He has done everything possible to make us that way!
Consider this proclamation from our King Jesus: “Until Now, You Have Asked Nothing In My Name. Ask, That You May Receive, That Your JOY MAY BE FULL! (John 16:24) Understand this: Jesus went to every length to fill us with joy!
