As we approach Easter, let’s think upon and meditate on some of what Jesus Did in His work on the cross and in hell and in His resurrection.
Isaiah the prophet was given a message from God. He was shown a vision of what Jesus would do on the cross and he reported it in his scroll number 53 verses 4&5, more than 400 years before Jesus came.
“Surely He has born (from the hebrew word Nash, to lift, carry, take away) our griefs (from the hebrew word Choli or Challah meaning sickness, affliction, malady, anxiety, calamity or disease.) and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken and afflicted by God.” (In that day if someone was punished or was diseased, it was assumed that the cause was a violation of one of the 613 ordinances which brought immediate retribution in the form of one or all of the curses of the law. You should read these, especially if you choose to try to please God by your performance and thus place yourself under the law. They begin in Deuteronomy chapter 27: 15.
Jesus took all disease and insanity in Himself on the cross and died from all of them, thus abolishing them forever. He wasn’t even recognizable as a human being. He was suffering from cancer, diabetes, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, alzhiemers, and every other disease known and unknown to man until the moment he breathed His last breath. Imagine the agony. If you think some of the recent passion movies are gross, imagine the reality which was infinitely worse!!! Why? To destroy the power of illness in those who believe!
Now the only way disease can exist is through doubt,crime, unbelief, ignorance, self destruction,acccident and the abuse of the environment by men and women of free will! If all of those who are called believers actually did believe Jesus, the human immune system would destroy all invaders. One example of this. Stress is the number one killer of people today. Stress causes cancer and heart attacks. Stress comes from a decision not to believe Jesus.
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we were healed.” The healing in this verse means that we were reconciled to God and Man.
Jesus paid the price for all of our sins; past, present and future once and for all when he was beaten, whipped and crucified and when he suffered in hell for three days! (Hebrews 10:10)
” Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign or miracle from You.” [Proving that you are what You claim to be]
But He replied to them, An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, a generation morally unfaithful to God, seeks and demands a sign; but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For even as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great sea monster, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the bowels of the earth”. (Matthew 12:38-40)
And so it was that for three days and three nights, Jesus was tortured in the bowels of hell to pay for our sins. And just as Jonah cried out to God to save him and the fish vomited him out; So Jesus drew on His faith and destroyed satan, paraded him around in the heavens, shamed him openly and proclaimed him to be a defeated foe. Then He cried out in faith to His Father and was immediately resurrected.
In short, Jesus destroyed all disease. He paid for our sins once and for all. He defeated the evil one and made an open show of him, ransomed us from the price of our own sins thus redeeming us eternally. And this is just the beginning. Why? “FOR GOD SO DEARLY LOVED AND PRIZED THE WORLD (YOU/YOUR NAME HERE) THAT HE GAVE UP HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON SO THAT WHOSEVER (YOU/YOUR NAME HERE) BELIEVES IN, CLINGS TO RELIES ON AND TRUSTS IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. FOR GOD SENT NOT HIS SON INTO THE WORLD TO JUDGE IT OR CONDEMN THE WORLD, BUT THAT IT MIGHT BE SAVED THROUGH HIM!!”
(John 3:16-17)
“Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved! For with the heart a person believes and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms his salvation. The scriptures say that no man who believes in Him will ever be put to shame or be disappointed!” (Romans 10:9-10)
