WHO DO YOU SAY YOU ARE?
Which is more accurate, who Jesus says you are or who you say you are?
After more than thirty-five years of Pastoring, my experience teaches me that we are our worst critics.
We readily judge and condemn ourselves. Jesus requires us to forgive others as He has forgiven us. Forgiveness is His thing. Yet we, His children, find ourselves the most difficult to forgive. We blow right past the fact that our very Creator has forgiven us of all past, present, and future sins and commence punishing ourselves for what we consider our sins and mistakes.
We are constantly bombarded with messaging. Some are healthy and good, and many are toxic and evil. How we feel about ourselves is a complex situation. It depends largely on the voices we choose to listen to.
Society, our friends, relatives, and neighbors have input. It has been said that you can praise a child one million times, and the child will forget the praise and remember the one hurtful comment they heard about themselves.
I believe that to be true. Can you remember a nasty thing a school teacher, a sibling, a bully, or a parent said about you as a child? Do you hang on to a reprimand that a coach or, later in life, an employer, spouse, or friend labeled you with? My Partner still remembers the things that Sister Mary Margaret greeted him with.
So, as our Psychologist partner has taught us and we have reported in our teachings many times, we are the things we learn, the sum of our experiences, and the story we tell ourselves. Who is the author of the story you tell yourself?
Change the channel if the voice you hear that paints your self-image is not the Holy Spirit. You have the ability to do that second by second. Your peace, strength, courage, and happiness depend on doing just that.
Here is what Jesus says about you:
He chose you (fill in your name) to be His adopted and eternal child before He built the world. He purposed you to be His and to walk in His glory and love, to be led by Him, and to do the good things that He planned for you. You are His glorious inheritance. He loves you personally, just as you are infinitely, unconditionally, and eternally just how you are, regardless of your behavior.
He cherished you so much that He gave Himself to live with you in the person of the indwelling Holy Spirit to comfort you, guide you into all truth, and show you the things that are to come.
He knows you personally and calls you by your name. He speaks to you personally and has caused you to be able to hear and follow Him because you mean that much to Him.
Jesus died for you to make you and paid the price with His blood for you to be Holy, Blameless, and beyond correction in His sight. You are His glorious inheritance, and He has purchased yours.
Jesus cherishes you so much just the way you are that He suffered and died for you to heal all of your diseases, give you all things that pertain to life and Godliness, give you abundant life, and give you the power to gain wealth.
Jesus loves you so much that it was His great joy to give you the keys to the kingdom of Heaven and the power to do the same things He did and even greater things than them.
Jesus sees you as His beloved child. He is your shepherd, and you are His sheep. He is your God, your Rock, Your Fortress, Your safe Hiding Place. He has gathered you under His wings; nothing shall ever hurt you.
Because you believe and believe in Him, this wisp of smoke life will be gone in the blink of an eye, but you will live with Him in His glory forever.
Jesus paid the price to give you His hope, joy, gladness, and peace. He prays that you will accept and walk in them.
Because of His love, He has made you above and not beneath, MORE THAN A CONQUEROR in every situation.
He has always constantly caused His Angels to watch over you and minister to you. He has given you an angel that sees the face of God every day.
Because you believe and believe in Him, nothing is impossible for you, nothing is impossible for Him, and no Word that He has spoken will be impossible to be fulfilled. Yes, all of His promises are one hundred percent true and guaranteed by His blood. Jesus can not say no to you because all His promises are yes and amen.
Jesus did not give you a spirit of fear but of strength, courage, and a sound mind. Because you believe and believe in Him, He has inhabited every one of the hundreds of trillions of cells, subcells and infinite particulate matter that makes you.
Jesus the Creator, the pulsating illuminating energy that created and maintains everything that is, the “God Particle” ” who was and is and always will be, The Great I Am is with you now and forever, He will never leave you or forsake you He is with you now and even until the end of the age.
