THE GREATEST CONFESSION

THE GREATEST CONFESSION

Jesus only asked for confession once. It was when He asked the disciples who they said that He was. Peter got the answer right because God gave it to Him.

Jesus asked the disciples to tell Him who they believed He was. He wanted them to make a verbal statement that He was God in the flesh, their savior.

In my Spirit, I believe that Jesus craves our confession of Who we think He is and what we think of Him, on a personal level because He loves us infinitely as individuals regardless of our behavior. We are His glorious inheritance.

(Ephesians 1:18)

Here is my opinion of the greatest confession ever made. King David wrote it. David loved God with all his heart and believed correctly that God loved him with all His heart. I believe that it is one of the reasons that God called David “a man after my own heart!”

The Lord Is My Shepherd. I Shall Not Want!” (lack or need anything). This is a profound statement of belief, without doubt.

(Psalm 23:1)

This one sentence is so powerful because Jesus told us that from the overflow of our hearts, our mouths speak, which means that what we believe in our hearts will come out of our mouths. And, we will have what we say as long as we do not doubt in our hearts that what we say will come to pass.

(Matthew 12:34 and Mark 11:22-24)

One thousand years later, our Lord and King would say these words:

I assure you and most solemnly say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the sheepfold but climbs up from some other place (the evil one), that one is a thief and a robber. But He who enters by the door (Jesus) is the shepherd of the sheep, the protector, and the provider.

The doorkeeper (Holy Spirit) opens the gate for this man, and the sheep (We who believe in and follow Jesus) hear his voice and pay attention to it. And He calls his sheep by name and leads them out to pasture. When he has brought all his sheep outside, he walks on ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice and recognize his call. They will never follow a stranger but will run away from him because they do not know the voice of strangers.”

(John 10:1-5)

Jesus went on to state: “I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD.”

The thief comes but to kill, steal and destroy; I have come that they may have and enjoy life to the full and that they will have it in abundance.”

(John 10:10-11)

Jesus gave us His great and precious promises and guaranteed them with His blood. Here is what Peter, under the direction of Holy Spirit, wrote about what Jesus bought us and guaranteed with His blood:

Simon Peter a bond-servant and apostle, a special messenger, personally chosen representative of Jesus.

To those (all who believe Jesus) who have (past tense, already) received and possess (now have) by God’s will a precious faith (The Faith of Jesus) of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus.

Grace (God’s willingness, ability, and power that has done those things for us that we cannot or will not do for ourselves) and peace (a state of complete undisturbedness) be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord”.

For His divine power HAS (past tense, already bestowed on us) ALL THINGS necessary for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

For by these, HE HAS bestowed on us His precious and magnificent promises so that by them you may escape from the immoral freedom that is in the world because of disreputable desire and become sharers of the divine nature.”

(2 Peter 1:1-4)

MEANING

Since Jesus has already given us ALL THINGS, we do not need to lust after anything. We already have everything we will ever need. We only need to believe without a doubt to receive them. So the great theologian Loyd Skidmore summarized the Gospel of Jesus in this phrase “Believe and Receive, Doubt and Do Without” Amen!

What is your confession? Do the words you speak agree with the teachings of Jesus. Are you able to train yourself with Jesus’s help not to speak negative words? Do you practice rejecting negative thoughts from coming into your heart while striving to fill you heart with the words and thoughts of Jesus?

Do You Believe That Because Jesus Is Your Shepherd, You Shall Not Want? Again, a great indicator is our prayer language. Do we ask Jesus for things that He already gave us or thank Him that we have received them by believing and using the free gift of faith He gave us?

This is the beginning of a series of teachings about the Greatest Confession, the twenty-third Psalm. David gave us a great example of expressing our love for God and how we feel about Him.

Can you begin to think about and create your own personal confession?

NEVER FORGET HOW MUCH JESUS LOVES YOU PERSONALLY.

Remember that He loves you so much regardless of your behavior that He died the worst death anyone ever could to buy you for Himself so that you can live with Him for all eternity.
