Why We Give Thanks

Why We Give Thanks

The most important thing to give thanks for is, of course, the choice of God to become a Human whose name was Immanuel, God with us/revealed in us, Yeshua Hamashiac. The King of Kings, our Lord and Savior Jesus.

Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, the young woman who is unmarried and a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel [God with us].

(Isaiah 7:14)

Jesus wants you to know how much He loves you (fill in your name). He wants your heart. He cherishes you beyond your capacity to understand. Everything that God has done for you was because He cherishes you that much.

Jesus loves you so much that He brought me back from death so that He could use me to deliver this love letter to you.

He has already bought and paid for your glorious inheritance on earth and in Heaven, with His blood. Because, you are His glorious inheritance.

God cherishes you so much that He chose to forgive all of your sins, past, present, and future, and never even be able to remember them.

(Hebrews 10:10-18, Zephaniah 3:17, Psalm 103:1-3 and 12, John 1:29)

God cherishes you so much that He gave everything He could give to buy your heart.

All that He requires of you is that you believe and believe in Him. What does God want from you? Your time, your love, your dedication to sharing His love with others. Jesus wants to have an ongoing dialogue with you. He wants to be your best friend forever. He wants you to hunger and thirst for Him as He hungers and thirsts for you. He wants you to believe Him and receive by belief all of the great and precious promises He died to give you.

Jesus died that awful death to pay the price to call you by your name and lead you out of the captivity of  having to pay for your sins. He hears you and wants you to hear Him.

(John 10)

We are beginning a series of teachings about the event known as Christmas. Christmas didn’t start with the infamous meeting between the angel Gabriel and Zacharias. Instead, it began in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve bought the lie of the evil one and partook of the fruit of the knowledge of Good and Evil, ushering sin and death into the world.

The stench in God’s nostrils employed his favorite tool to bring sin to earth. He called the Word of God into question, and Adam and Eve bought in. God’s children have been falling for that trick ever since. It is a simple thought that is repeatedly inserted into the flesh mind.

“How could God?” “Surely He did not say or mean that!”

The instant that sin began was when God created His plan, the divine mystery, hidden from kings and wise men until Jesus came and fulfilled it. Then, God revealed His plan to the Jews through Prophets, beginning with Moses.

God was forced to speak to men through prophets because His chosen people declared that they did not want to listen to Him but Moses.

Speak to us yourself, and we will listen,” they said to Moses. “But do not let God speak to us, or we will die.

(Exodus 20:19)

After that, God never spoke directly to the Jews again. Instead, he talked to them only through prophets or angels or messengers until He entered the earth in the person of Jesus, and then He spoke not just to the Jews but all people.

From the instant of the first sin, God began to reveal His plan. Here is the first prophecy of Jesus:

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

(Genesis 3:15)

That prophecy is a direct promise from God to the burnt-up cankerworm, satan, that Jesus will crush his head.

Part of God’s plan of eternal salvation and joy for us was to make the miracle of fulfilled prophecy’s clear and overwhelming proof that His very existence as Emmanuel/Yeshua was a divine miracle and that His divinity was beyond argument.

There were more than four hundred and fifty-seven specific prophecy’s fulfilled by Jesus. Forty-eight of those were explicit about the life of Jesus.

The remainder were about the things that would be accomplished as a result of His life. But, unfortunately, the human mind is incapable of comprehending the mathematical probabilities of that. But let’s take a shot.

The probability of just 48 prophecy’s being fulfilled in one man’s life is 10^157th power. 48 is the number of specific to Jesus; prophecy’s that existed.

For those who did not go to Georgia Tech, that’s a 10 with 157 zero’s after it, too much to understand. So let’s look at a smaller number. Let’s look at 10^17th power. A Christian Ph.D. in mathematics explained it this way:

“The probability of only 48 prophecy’s being fulfilled in one man’s life is 10^17th power. For example, suppose you took silver dollars and laid them on the face of the entire surface of the state of Texas two feet deep. Then suppose you marked one of those silver dollars and stirred the whole mass thoroughly. Then suppose you blindfolded a person and told them that they could travel as far and wide as they wished, but that they must pick up one silver dollar, and the person actually picked up the marked silver dollar. That probability is 10^17th power.

Jesus’ life and works were specifically prophesied in every book of the Old Testament. So that the Christmas event that we celebrate was not a random act that God just caused to erupt one starry night instantaneously. It was the fulfillment of His plan for Mankind from the beginning of time.

He planned to come to the earth as a Human and ransom us from the price of our sins, which is eternal separation from Him and infinite torment, paying for our sins in His body. But to complete His plan, all of the prophesies had to be fulfilled, and His bloodline had to be pure and complete from Adam to Mary.
