Here is another conversation that I had with Jesus recently:
And we began:
The conversation started with a memory. The memory was of the conversation that Jesus had with the woman at Jacobs well. Here it is in scripture:
Hi Daddy, I need your help understanding something. My conundrum is this, why do so few folks believe your teachings, even when they say that they believe in you?
As I think about it, a certain teaching of yours comes to mind.
Jesus, I have read and taught this message literally hundreds of times. All of a sudden, it is becoming clear to me and it’s blowing my mind in its true meaning.
To me, that teaching means that in order to understand you, to visualize you, to see you, to hear you and to think like you, we humans must do so outside of what we see with our physical eyes. In fact, without engaging the imagination, we can not relate to you at all because you are unseen.
“Now when the Lord knew (learned, became aware) that the Pharisees had been told that Jesus was winning and baptizing more disciples than John—
Though Jesus Himself did not baptize, any people except His disciples—
He left Judea and returned to Galilee.
It was necessary for Him to go through Samaria.
And in doing so, He arrived at a Samaritan town called Sychar, near the tract of land that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
And Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, tired as He was from His journey, sat down [to rest] by the well. It was then about the sixth hour (about noon).
Presently, when a woman of Samaria came along to draw water, Jesus said to her, Give Me a drink—
For His disciples had gone off into the town to buy food—
(NOT a coincidence, Jesus did not want their unbelief to affect the woman. She was a gentile. Worse, she was a Samaritan.
The man-made Hebrew law made it clear that it was a huge sin to speak to a gentile. Jesus wasn’t ready to explain the new deal with the disciples yet.)
The Samaritan woman said to Him, How is it that [a]You, being a Jew, ask me, a Samaritan [and a] woman, for a drink?—For the Jews have nothing to do with the Samaritans—
Jesus answered her, If you had only known and had recognized God’s gift and Who this is that is saying to you, Give Me a drink, you would have asked Him [instead] and He would have given you living water.
She said to Him, Sir, You have nothing to draw with [no drawing bucket] and the well is deep; how then can You provide living water? [Where do You get Your living water?]
Are You greater than and superior to our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well and who used to drink from it himself, and his sons and his cattle also?
Jesus answered her, All who drink of this water will be thirsty again.
But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty anymore. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life.
(Meaning: Jesus and His Word are the same. Those who receive or ingest His Words like truth will never lack anything, because they will receive by faith what Jesus has given them, by faith.)
The woman said to Him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may never get thirsty nor have to come [continually all the way] here to draw.
At this, Jesus said to her, Go, call your husband and come back here.
The woman answered I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have spoken truly in saying, I have no husband.
For you have had five husbands, and the man you are now living with is not your husband. In this, you have spoken truly.
The woman said to Him, Sir, I see and understand that You are a prophet.
Our forefathers worshiped on this mountain, but you [Jews] say that Jerusalem is the place where it is necessary and proper to worship.
Jesus said to her, Woman, believe Me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither [merely] in this mountain nor [merely] in Jerusalem.
You [Samaritans] do not know what you are worshiping [you worship what you do not comprehend]. We do know what we are worshiping [we worship what we have knowledge of and understand], for [after all] salvation comes from [among] the Jews.
A time will come, however, indeed it is already here when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers.
God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).
(Now for the very first time, God is announcing to the world that He is the God of all people. God teaches us here that there is no skin color in the Spirit world.
Jesus is not black or white or red or yellow. Jesus is Spirit! Which is precisely why we must exit our flesh minds to see Him or understand Him or have an active love relationship with Him. We must operate in our spirit, to walk with God. We must be born again, born of the spirit and the flesh. We must live by the Spirit.)
The woman said to Him, I know that Messiah is coming, He Who is called the Christ (the Anointed One); and when He arrives, He will tell us everything we need to know and make it clear to us.
Jesus said to her, I Who now speak with you am He.”
(This teaching is found in John chapter 4 vs 1-26”
To me, that teaching means that in order to understand you, to visualize you, to see you, to hear you and to think like you, we humans must do so outside of what we see with our physical eyes. In fact, without engaging the imagination, we can not relate to YOU at all because YOU are unseen.
Daddy, here are two scriptures that come to mind immediately:
Now the mind of the flesh is death [both now and forever—because it pursues sin]; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace [the spiritual well-being that comes from walking with God—both now and forever]; the mind of the flesh [with its sinful pursuits] is actively hostile to God. It does not submit itself to God’s law since it cannot, and those who are in the flesh [living a life that caters to sinful appetites and impulses] cannot please God.
(Romans 8:6-8)
“So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable.”
(2Corinthians 4:18)
Now I understand what “let us create them in our image means.” It doesn’t mean that you are an exact replica of our physical appearance or that we are an exact replica of your physical being. It means that YOU are a Spirit and we are spirits as well.
Daddy, I have so many people come to me and ask for prayer
for things that you have already given them; such as healing or finances or favor or understanding or power.
People tell me that they believe in You, yet when I tell them
what you said or I teach them your great and precious promises, they tell me they can not believe them.
I walk around in grocery stores or shopping malls or any place where many people gather and I observe them hustling to and fro. Then I think on how few are fixated on you.
We minister to many people who are drowning in the negative circumstances. They are in the middle of trying to solve their problems with their flesh minds. They ask this question “HOW AM I?” You are the last place they go not the first. The reason being that they are managed by their flesh and thus, cannot come to the realization that you are standing right beside them and have already delivered them from their problem.
Here is a huge struggle for me Daddy: When I teach Your promises to people they push back because they believe that Your Words are too good to be true. Unfortunately, they hear that from the pulpit and other”believers”. Their teachers decry your Word by qualifying them with these words; “YES BUT”
Daddy is the problem that makes them intransigent; that they are trying to understand you with their flesh minds, instead of employing their Spirit who is with them, to guide them into all truth and to show them the things to come?
That is it, son!!!!! You nailed it! It breaks my heart that so few people operate in the Holy Spirit and their spirit. The world has taught them that if they don’t see something it cannot possibly be real. The world and the evil one have blinded their minds to the things of the Spirit.
So what do you want me to do Daddy? Teach them to close their flesh eyes and practice seeing through spiritual eyes.
You need flesh eyes to keep from wrecking your cars. But remember that the unseen created the seen and the seen can never be greater than the Creator.
Jesus showed me this analogy: Suppose you were given a Lamborghini by your rich uncle. Suppose that your uncle called you on the phone and told you that the Lambo was parked in front of your house. Suppose you looked outside the window and could not see your gift; because someone (the evil one and his snotty little naysayers covered it with impenetrable camouflage.
Now suppose that you said to yourself, “that old uncle of mine is a lier, he is always making up stories that are too good to be true. I am never going to believe him.”
You didn’t look carefully and thoughtfully because if you had, you would have easily seen through the camouflage. That is exactly what happens when you try to receive the gifts that God has already given you, yet your eyes are full of false paradigms like “yes but”.
That is how the conversation ended. My take away is this. There are beautiful unclaimed blessings given to us in the unseen. As soon as we train ourselves to celebrate them regardless of what we see, the sooner they will become visible to our natural eyes.
Our flesh minds are incapable of finding the answers, they can only be seen through Spiritual eyes.
