Here is how to access that power. The power of life and death is in the tongue and the heart. And nothing is impossible for those who Believe!!!!!
This teaching is not short but it is critical!
When you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and King, you received the same power that He has.
“Solemnly I tell you, that whosoever (that would include you) steadfastly believes in me, the works that I do will he do also, and even greater works shall he do because I go to my Father; and whatsoever things you ask of me, I will do, that the Father will be glorified in the Son, and anything you ask I will do!” (John 14:12-14) Note that Jesus did not attach any qualifiers to this statement; i.e, “yes, but you must pray in His will”.
Why is it so difficult to believe that Jesus meant what He said in this scripture ,yet so easy to believe that He meant what He said in John 3:16? Answer, the flesh and the evil one are still denying Jesus’ authority, deity and honesty. The evil one who convinced Eve to sin by saying to her,”SURELY HE DID NOT SAY…” Is deceiving Jesus’ children today, with the same lie. Befuddling!
How can one believe one thing that Jesus said yet deny another? Befuddling! Yet, that is where the church is today, teaching His flock not to believe Him by inserting qualifiers into His teachings or out right denying the truth of them. Or worse, not teaching what Jesus said. That is how the evil one has disempowered the body of Christ for 2,000 plus years.
Doubt, Skepticism, bad teaching, fear of the truth, editing Jesus, are reasons why the church is doing no mighty works, even though He commanded us to, and gave us the power and responsibility to.HIS FLOCK REFUSES TO BELIEVE HIM. Why because of the fear of what other people will think and many other flesh/self driven reasons, not the least of which is the ridiculous thought that our morality and thoughts are higher than God’s.
Read the words of Paul the teacher sent to us by Jesus:
“For I always pray to the God of our Lord Jesus, The Lord of glory, that He may grant you a SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION of insight into mysteries and secrets in the deep and intimate knowledge of Him, By having THE EYES OF YOUR HEART FLOODED WITH LIGHT, so that you can know and understand the HOPE to which He has called you, and how rich is His Glorious Inheritance in the saints, His set apart ones. (You Are God’s Glorious Inheritance! You are what he wants! You are what He paid everything He had for! You are what He looks forward to! Why? Because He loves You that much!)
“And so that you can know and understand what is the IMMEASURABLE AND UNLIMITED AND SURPASSING GREATNESS OF HIS POWER IN AND FOR US WHO BELIEVE, AS DEMONSTRATED IN THE WORKING OF HIS MIGHTY STRENGTH, WHICH HE EXERTED IN JESUS WHEN HE RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD AND SEATED HIM AT HIS RIGHT HAND IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES… Far above all rule dominion and every name that is named, in this life and in the life to come.”(Ephesians 1:17-20)
Do you see that you have been given the same power that raised Jesus from the dead? Ok now how do you employ that power? Answer, through making a decision to BELIEVE JESUS BEYOND THE SHADOW OF A DOUBT!”
A man suffering from Leprosy, came to Jesus and said, “If you are willing, you can heal me.” Jesus said to him, “I am willing be healed”. (Matthew8:1&2)
Of course Jesus was willing, He went about healing ALL THAT WERE SICK. What activated this man’s healing, his steadfast belief that Jesus could heal Him. Jesus has never denied healing to anyone for any reason. He healed all of us once for all. (Isaiah 53:4). What stops people from receiving their healing? UNBELIEF.
Contrast the leper who believed, spoke his belief and instantly received his healing, with the next episode.
A man went to the 12 and told them that his son had a demon which we now know is Epilepsy. He asked them to heal the boy and they could not. They failed because they did not believe they could, and because they were trying to heal the boy under their flesh power. The man went to Jesus and told Him about his son’s problem. The man made a major mistake. He asked Jesus if He could heal the boy.
Here is what the unbelieving man said to Jesus, “BUT IF YOU CAN DO ANYTHING, do have pity on us and help us.” Jesus had been compassionate with the man up to this point, but now the man really aggravated Jesus. Here is what Jesus replied: “IF YOU CAN DO ANYTHING? [WHY] ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO HIM WHO BELIEVES!” (Mark 9:23)
That message was true for Jesus and the man and the disciples and for you and me! Do you believe Jesus? Do you believe that ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO HIM WHO BELIEVES? Really, all things?
Enter the teaching of Jesus again: “FROM THE OVERFLOW OF THE MOUTH THE HEART SPEAKS, AND YOU WILL HAVE WHAT YOU SAY AS LONG AS YOU SPEAK WITHOUT DOUBT IN YOUR HEART!” (Luke 6:45 and Mark 11:22-24)
Translation: What you believe and expect in your heart, you will speak, positive or negative, and you will have what you say!
In Jesus’ base camp the city of Capernum, He could there do no mighty works because of their unbelief. Unbelief will override belief every time!
The extent to which we receive and operate in the Power we have been given including to heal and receive healing, is entirely dependent on the degree to which we choose (and it is a choice) to believe Jesus. Plain and simple from the mouth of the Master.
In my next teaching we will see how Jesus’ bestie, besties unbelieved their brother to death, even after Jesus whom they had seen perform all of His miracles including raising several others from the dead, promised them that their brother Lazarus would not die.
