YOU ARE GOD’S GLORIOUS INHERITANCE
“My Ways Are Not Your Ways, And My Thoughts Are Not Your Thoughts; Because My Ways Are Above Your Ways And My Thoughts Are Above Your Thoughts”
God speaking to us through Isaiah the Prophet, taught me about the futility of trying to understand Him with our finite minds when His mind is infinite.
So it goes with trying to grasp the depth of God the Father, God Jesus and God Holy Spirit’s infinite, unconditional, unqualified love for each of us, regardless of our behavior. However, there are some clues that He left us through Jesus and Holy Spirit.
One clue is contained in the most beautiful passage in the Bible (IMO), which is the first two chapters of Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus or the book of Ephesians.
God took me on a mission trip to Ephesus and the other six cities of the book of Revelation. The words of this love letter sang in my heart as I stood on the amphitheater floor where Paul taught.
This personal message to us is so beautiful. When you need encouragement and want to learn how much you mean to Jesus, take out your Bible source and read or listen to it.
“MAY BLESSINGS, PRAISE LAUDATION, AND EULOGY be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, who HAS (past, present tense meaning already) blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Jesus, just as in His love He chose us in Jesus before the foundation of the world, so that we would be HOLY, BLAMELESS AND BEYOND REPROACH (beyond correction) before Him In love!”
He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as His own children through Jesus by the kind intention and good pleasure of His will to the praise of His glorious grace and favor, which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved Son, Jesus.
It is essential to understand that God did not predestine our lives, as some wrongly believe. Instead, he predestined for us to be His children by believing and believing in Jesus.
In Him, we have (past, present tense meaning already) redemption (From the Greek word Apolutrosis-meaning, ransom paid in full), our deliverance, and salvation (Meaning much more than just our ticket to heaven, from the Hebrew word Yeshuwah which means something saved, deliverance, victory, prosperity, and health. Ironically Jesus’s name in Hebrew) through His blood, which paid the penalty for our sins and resulted in the forgiveness and COMPLETE pardon of our sins (past, present, and future) by the riches of His grace (not our behavior) which He lavished on us, in all wisdom and understanding.
GRACE IS GOD’S WILLINGNESS, ABILITY, AND POWER, WHICH HAVE DONE THOSE THINGS FOR US THAT WE CAN NOT OR WILL NOT DO FOR OURSELVES.
It is by that grace and the blood of Jesus shed by His act of unimaginable love and our choice to believe and believe in Him that our sins were forgiven and we were redeemed.
Making known to us the secret of His will, of His plan, and it is this, By His GOOD pleasure, His MERCIFULl intention which He had previously purposed and set forth in Jesus, about the fulfillment of the times to bring all things together in Jesus, both things in the heavens and things on the earth.
In Jesus also we HAVE (past, present tense meaning already)received an inheritance, a destiny—we were chosen, appointed beforehand according to the purpose of Him who works everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His will, so that we who were the first to hope in Jesus ( those who believe and believe in Jesus)who first put our confidence in Him as our Lord and Savior would live for the praise of His glory!
In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and believed in Him, were (past tense meaning already) stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, the One promised by Jesus as owned and protected by God.
The Spirit guarantees our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own purchased (by the Love and blood of Jesus), possession, His believers, to the praise of His glory.
For this reason, because I (Paul) have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight into the true knowledge of Him for we know the Father through the Son.
And that the eyes of your heart, the very center, and core of your being, may be enlightened and flooded with light by the Holy Spirit so that you will know and cherish the hope, the divine guarantee, the confident expectation to which He has called you; AND HOW RICH IS HIS GLORIOUS INHERITANCE in the saints (those who believe and believe in Jesus)
(Ephesians 1:2-18)
YES! YOU (fill in your name regardless of your behavior) ARE GOD’S GLORIOUS INHERITANCE. You are what He wants more than anything. You are what He gave all He had to purchase because He, God/Holy Spirit/Jesus, loves you so much just the way you are, sin and all, that He has to have you with Him forever!
Let’s review what the love of Jesus gave us according to this love letter that He asked Paul to write on His behalf to us:
We have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places.
In all wisdom, God chose us before the foundation of the worlds to be holy, blameless, and beyond correction in His sight by believing and believing in Jesus through His blood sacrifice.
God predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as His own children through Jesus.
God gave us redemption, salvation and completely pardoned us for all of our sins.
He revealed to us the mystery/secret of His intention to bring all things in heaven and on earth together in Jesus.
He gave us an inheritance to live forever for His praise and glory.
He stamped us with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance.
HE MADE US HIS GLORIOUS INHERITANCE
(Ephesians 1:18 and Deuteronomy 3:29)
And that is not all. Jesus also, because of His love, bought us all things that pertain to life and Godliness, including His faith and His great and precious promise.
(2Peter1:1-4)
Why does God love us so much? Because we are His glorious inheritance. We are what He wants more than anything. So what does He ask of us?
That we believe and believe in the One Whom He Has Sent! Period! (John 6:28-29)
