Do you need the Power of God in your life?
Jesus taught us declaring…”YOU DO ERR, NOT KNOWING THE SCRIPTURES, NEITHER THE POWER THEREOF?” (MATTHEW 22:29)
Jesus was teaching us that the Power Of God, is in his Word. Pay attention to these words that Jesus spoke teaching about the value that we place on the Word…
“TAKE HEED (pay careful attention and consideration to) WHAT YOU HEAR: WITH WHAT MEASURE YOU METE, IT SHALL BE MEASURED TO YOU (Jesus is declaring that the value we place on understanding and receiving His teachings, determines the level of understanding that we will achieve) AND UNTO YOU THAT HEAR SHALL MORE BE GIVEN.”
The Power of God is in His Word. The more we value His Word, The more we Treasure His Word, the more understanding we achieve. The more understanding we receive, the more understanding and thus POWER, we will receive.
“FOR HE THAT HATH, TO HIM SHALL BE GIVEN: AND HE THAT HATH NOT, FROM HIM SHALL BE TAKEN EVEN THAT WHICH HE HATH.” (Mark 4:24-25)
Jesus continues this teaching by explaining that the Word we sow into our hearts multiplies to us in ways we cannot see or know…
“SO IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD, AS IF A MAN SHOULD CAST SEED INTO THE GROUND; AND SHOULD SLEEP, AND RISE NIGHT AND DAY, AND THE SEED SHOULD SPRING AND GROW UP, HE KNOWETH NOT HOW. FOR THE EARTH BRINGETH FORTH FRUIT OF HERSELF; FIRST THE BLADE, THEN THE EAR, AFTER THAT WHICH THE FULL CORN IN THE EAR.” (Mark 4:26-28)
Jesus is teaching us that the more Word we sow into our hearts, the more POWER we will have and the more POWER that we have the more that will be given unto us. And that it will be multiplied to us in ways and at times of which we are not even aware.
When I preach, I KNOW the ones who come seeking the Word! They are easy to spot. First, they bring their Bibles. Second, they pay careful attention to what is being taught as though they came seeking treasure and know that they will find it. The teacher is providing the treasure map.
The inverse is also true. I know the ones who come hoping that God will bless them for suffering through another teaching. They frequently check their watches.
God spoke to the prophet Hosea that…”MY PEOPLE ARE DESTROYED, FOR A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.” (Hosea 4:6)
Peter taught us saying… “GRACE AND PEACE IS MULTIPLIED TO YOU THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD AND JESUS OUR LORD. ACCORDING AS HIS DIVINE POWER HATH, GIVEN UNTO US ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN UNTO LIFE AND GODLINESS, THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM THAT HATH CALLED US TO GLORY AND VIRTUE.” (2Peter 2 and 3)
Everyday, I see how ignorance of the Gospel of Jesus is destroying God’s people. Everyday, I see how through ignorance of the Promises guaranteed to us by the blood of Jesus in the New Covenant, God’s people wallow in weakness and defeat.
Here are some scriptures that will empower you to walk as the New Covenant Disciple that Jesus died to make you:
WHO WE ARE:
“A NEW CREATURE; OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY; BEHOLD, ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW. AND ALL THINGS ARE OF GOD, WHO HATH RECONCILED US TO HIMSELF BY JESUS CHRIST.”
“ACCORDING AS HE HATH CHOSEN US IN HIM, BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, THAT WE SHOULD BE HOLY AND WITHOUT BLAME BEFORE HIM IN LOVE; HAVING PREDESTINED HAVING PREDESTINED US UNTO THE ADOPTION OF CHILDREN BY JESUS CHRIST TO HIMSELF, ACCORDING TO THE GOOD PLEASURE OF HIS GOOD WILL, TO THE PRAISE OF THE GLORY OF HIS GRACE, WHEREIN HE MADE US ACCEPTED IN THE BELOVED (JESUS).”
“IN WHOM WE HAVE REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD, TH FORGIVENESS OF SINS, ACCORDING TO THE RICHES OF HIS GRACE WHEREIN HE HATH ABOUNDED TOWARD US IN ALL WISDOM AND PRUDENCE;”
“HAVING MADE KNOWN TO US THE MYSTERY OF HIS WILL, ACCORDING TO HIS GOOD PLEASURE WHICH HE HATH PURPOSED IN HIMSELF.” (Ephesians 1:4-9)
HOW GOD SEES US:
“BUT YE ARE (1)… A CHOSEN GENERATION (2)…A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD (3) AN HOLY NATION (4) A PECULIAR PEOPLE; THAT YOU SHOULD SHOW FORTH PRAISES OF HIM WHO HATH CALLED YOU OUT OF DARKNESS INTO HIS MARVELOUS LIGHT.” (1 Peter 1:9)
Peter is saying that God has blessed us so much that we will give him praise because of how blessed we are and that he has ransomed us from satan and all of his power with the blood of Jesus and having done so, translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. Therefore… we are
“HOLY, AND UNBLAMEABLE AND UNREPROVEABLE IN HIS SIGHT.” (Colossians 1:22)
“THERE IS NOW THEREFORE, NO JUDGMENT OR CONDEMNATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN JESUS, WHO WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH, BUT AFTER THE SPIRIT.” (Romans 8:1)
“THE SPIRIT ITSELF BEARES WITNESS WITHOUT SPIRIT, THAT WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD; AND IF CHILDREN THEN HEIRS OF GOD, AND JOINT-HEIRS WITH JESUS” (Romans 8:17)
“NAY IN ALL THINGS WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS THROUGH HIM THAT LOVED US”. (Romans 8:37)
WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR US:
“WHO HATH DELIVERED US FROM THE POWER OF DARKNESS AND HATH TRANSLATED US INTO THE POWER OF HIS DEAR SON:” (Colossians 1:13)
“WHO HATH DEALT TO ALL MEN THE MEASURE OF FAITH” (Romans 12:3) (When you made a decision to believe that God raised Jesus from the dead and you confessed with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, you were given His Faith. You can never get more or have less… Ephesians 2:8and9)
“WHO HATH BLESSED US IN HEAVENLY PLACES WITH ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS” (Ephesians 1:3)
“WHO HATH IN THESE LAST DAYS, SPOKEN TO US THROUGH HIS SON”. (Hebrews 1:2)
“WHO HATH GIVEN US ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN TO LIFE AND GODLINESS” (2 Peter 1:3)
Jesus closes with…”IT IS THE SPIRIT THAT MAKES ALIVE; THE FLESH COUNTS FOR NOTHING. THE WORDS THAT I SPEAK UNTO YOU, THEY ARE SPIRIT AND THEY ARE LIFE, BUT THERE ARE SOME AMONG YOU WHO DO NOT BELIEVE!” (John 6: 63 and 64)
