Have you ever asked yourself how the virgin Mary became impregnated?
That event is the most important in the history of the world with the exception of Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection, walking around on earth doing miracles for 40 days after he died and His ascension to His most exalted throne.
Jesus was not born!
Jesus was in the beginning and shall forever be. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Jesus is and was God!
He is His Word! And His Word is God! And His Word was with God in the beginning. All things were made by and for Him.
What Happened Then?
God in the flesh had to live totally as a human, be tempted with all things that man is tempted with, yet not sin in thought or in deed.”
Why? So that He and He alone would have earned the right to purchase His children from the consequences of their sins. That is why Jesus is the only way to God.
He had to Have a human body!
Why, so that he could feel all of the physicality of all of His children and sacrifice that body as payment for and a guarantee of, our salvation.
Tomorrow we are going to get into the people God chose to involve in His entrance to the world. For now, we are going to focus on only 2 of them and 1 angel. Elizabeth, Mary and the Arc Angel Gabriel, God’s personal Angel!
The Angel Gabriel had prophesied to Zachariah the father of John the Baptist, that his son would be filled with the Holy Spirit from birth. This was a stunning proclamation. It had never happened before. The Holy Spirit would visit people and situations temporarily before Jesus, but until Jesus released His Spirit, it was impossible for a person to have the indwelling Holy Spirit.
When Zachariah’s wife Elizabeth who had been barren all of her adult life and was well advanced in years, got pregnant, she KNEW it was a miracle. She and Zachariah had been struggling to have a son because they were Levites. Of the 12 tribes of Judah, the family of Arron was chosen to perform all priestly functions. That institution began with Arron’s son Levi and all Rabbi’s and Priests came from that family. And both Zachariah and his wife Elizabeth were of the priestly family.
So in order to continue the blood line, it was imperative for them to have a son. Yet, they gave up and quit believing that it would happen, because they had grown old Yet God answered their prayer and gave them their hearts desire at the time they prayed for a son. That is a huge lesson for us today. Never stop believing in a promise from God because you cannot yet see it.
Elizabeth was convinced that it would never happen and so was Zachariah. Why? Because they believed the things that they sensed and saw more than the promises of God. Their unbelief and their negative speech blocked them from being fertile. But on this day the Holy Spirit overcame their unbelief. So Elizabeth became pregnant and was in the 6th month of her pregnancy when the Angel Gabriel appeared to her young (maybe 14 or 15) year old cousin Mary.
The most important lesson we can learn from this Holy Event, is the power of unbelief and negative speech, believing the seen more than the unseen and the reverse, seeing what you believe and speaking it into existence.
Now the Angel Gabriel is with Mary and lets pick things up there.
“Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph of the house of David (Joseph had no blood relationship to Jesus, His lineage came from His mother Mary who was also of the house of David. It was her blood that was in His earth suit.) The Virgins name was Mary.”
“And having come in the Angel said to her, ‘Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you , blessed are you among women!” It is not written, but I bet she fainted when she saw Gabriel (Look up his appearance in Daniel 10 beginning in the 4th verse). But, when she saw him she was troubled (you think?) at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.”
“Then the Angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary,( Oh sure. ) for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son and you shall call His name JESUS.”
” He shall be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end.”
HERE IS WHEN, WHERE AND HOW IT HAPPENED!
Mary believed the angel, thus she ate the Word of God! In doing so, she ingested Jesus and became pregnant. She conceived the Word of God because she received the Word of God and Jesus is the Word. Remember what Jesus said, “Unless you eat the flesh (The Word) of the Son of Man you will have no life in you!” “My Words are spirit and life, the (physical flesh of men) counts for nothing.” If Mary had not consumed the Word of God as delivered to Her by Gabriel, she could not have conceived Jesus.
Mary asked a question of belief to the Angel, how are we going to do this? “How can this be since I do not know (have never had sex with) a man?”
And the Angel answered her: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the HIGHEST will overshadow you; therefore also, that HOLY ONE who is to be born will be called The Son Of God.”
” Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; an this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. FOR WITH GOD NOTHING WIL BE IMPOSSIBLE!”
Here are the words that changed the world forever,” THEN MARY SAID, ‘BEHOLD THE MAIDSERVANT OF THE LORD! LET IT BE TO ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD!”
Mary’s acceptance, consumption and belief of the message of God which was His Word, opened her womb and she became pregnant with the KING OF KINGS.
And that my friends is HOW GOD DID IT!
