Bless the Lord

BLESS THE LORD

I Love this pronouncement from King David, Author, Song Writer, and Prophet.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul

and all that is within me

bless your holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul

and all that is within me

Bless His holy name

And forget not His many benefits, Who forgives all of your sins, heals all your diseases, redeems your life from the pit, crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, and satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.

The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses and His acts to the people of Israel.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He does not deal with us according to our sins nor repay us according to our sins.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is steadfast love toward those who fear Him;

(Love, believe, respect, and hear him.) as far as the East is from the West, so far does He remove our sins from us.”

(Psalm 103:1-12)

YES, YES, YES! BLESS THE LORD! BlESS HIS HOLY NAME!

We should bless Him in good times because He made them. We should bless Him in bad times because He has overcome them. We should bless Him when we are happy and when we are sad, for He is the joy giver.

We should bless Him because He has loved us since before He knitted us together in the womb. We should bless Him because His love for us as individuals is eternal, immeasurable, and unconditional.

We should bless Him because He loves us so much that even in our deepest, darkest sins, He proves His love for us by dying for us. We should bless Him because we love Him with all of our hearts.

(Romans 5:8)

We should bless Him because He saved us from the consequences of our sins, so if we believe and believe in Him, we will live forever in His glorious Heaven, and in doing so, He has excluded us from any judgment or condemnation.

(John 3:16-18)

We should bless Him because He did not leave us as orphans but gave us His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth, show us the things to come, and remind us of everything He did and said.

(John 14:25, John 15:26, John 16:12-15)

We should bless Him because He HAS (past, present tense meaning, already) blessed us with ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN TO LIFE AND GODLINESS.

We should bless Him because He cherishes us and has called us His glorious inheritance.

(2 Peter1:1-Ephesians 1:18)

We should bless Him because He has healed all of our diseases. (Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:16-17, 1 Peter2:24)

We should bless Him because He gave us His faith.

(2Peter1:1)

We should bless Him because He gave us His peace, joy, and gladness.

(John 14:27, John 17:13)

We should bless Him because He gave us the power and ability to do the same things that He did on earth and even greater than them.

(John 14:12)

We should bless Him because He gave us the ability and power to speak things in and out of existence.

(Mark 11:22, Matthew 18:18)

We should bless Him because He forgave all of our sins, past, present, and future, once and for all, and has chosen not to be able to remember them.

(Zephaniah 3:17, Psalm 103:1-3 and 12, Isaiah 53:4-5, John 1:29, Hebrews 8:12, Hebrews 10:10-18, Revelations 1:5)

We should bless Him because He overcame the evil one and gave us dominion over him, his servants, and all his powers.

(Luke 10:18-19)

We should bless Him because He is our Father!

HOW TO BLESS GOD

How can mere mortals bless Jesus?

Believe in Him, and believe Him; that is what He wants more than anything.

Eat His flesh and drink His blood. This means reading or hearing His Words, consuming them, believing them without a doubt, making them the most essential things in our lives, and doing them. Drinking His blood means to believe without doubt that Jesus guaranteed His Words with His blood.

We can bless Jesus by forgiving others as quickly and fully as He has forgiven us; even when they are wrong, we are right, and they have caused us much pain.

We can bless Jesus by following His commands to love God with all our hearts, minds, and Spirit, the evidence of making Him the most important thing in our lives, and loving our neighbors as we love ourselves. We can do unto others as we would have them do unto us.

We can bless Jesus by giving to Him as freely as He has given to us, investing our time, talent, and finances in Him to the degree that our doing so clearly demonstrates how grateful we are to Him.

We can bless Him by obeying the great commission and teaching The Good News Of Great Joy, which shall be, to all people, the most important goal in our lives.

We can bless Him by surrendering our lives to Him not in words but in fact. We can listen to and obey Him. We are His sheep. He calls us by our names. We hear Him and will follow no other. (John 10)

We can bless Him by walking in the fruits of the Spirit:

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

(Galatians 5:22)

Can you think of ways to Bless the Father who loves you so much? Think about this: the psalm you just read is a confession by David. It is one of his many writings about his love for His Father in Heaven. If you were to write a psalm, what would it say?
