Are You Delusional?

ARE YOU DELUSIONAL?
As I constructed this week’s message, Holy Spirit put this Word in my Spirit.
OFFENSE WARNING:
Many Holy Cow-engrained, non-biblical cliches and religious paradigms are put to rest in this teaching from Holy Spirit; this is just bound to offend the highly religious and dependent. If so, we apologize in advance and advise you to search the annotated scriptures before rejecting them. The goal of the message is to make you free.
Delusional: Characterized by holding false beliefs or judgments about external reality that are held despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary. In other words, it means believing something that is not true.
Like many of you, I have heard this Word many times. I studied this phenomenon in psychology in college. It is embedded somewhere deep in my memory, and I rarely think of it.
I had three other messages under construction when Holy Spirit pasted DELUSIONAL to my front-of-mind awareness with exclamation points, meaning teach this, not the others. So here we go!
Here is the deal. JESUS IS HIS WORD,IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD, AND THE WORD WAS WITH GOD AND THE WORD WAS GOD!JESUS AND HIS WORDS ARE THE TRUTH! His Words are the highest TRUTH. Words and thoughts that contradict His are false. And believing those words makes one delusional.
It may help to understand that Jesus and God are the same. Therefore, all of the Words of Jesus are authorized by and straight from the mind and mouth of God Himself. Thus, they are ALL TRUTH!
(John 1:1, John 14:6-7)
Let’s examine some commonly and chronically held beliefs that are delusional:
GOD IS IN CONTROL
Religion has pounded this non-biblical cliche into our collective theology since the beginning of time.
God is not in control and said so personally twice.
“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore, CHOOSE life!”
(Deuteronomy 30:19)
If God were in Control, we would have no choice!!
In addition, if God were in control, earth would be like heaven. God chose not to have a planet of automatons. He wanted us to obey and love him, not grudgingly or out of necessity, but as our hearts lead us.
Jesus teaches: Whoever believes in Him (Jesus) is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God!
(John 3:18)
Clearly, if God were in control, everybody would choose to believe in Jesus!
Here is one that separates His children from God eternally!
There are many ways to heaven!” This nonsense is the foundation of the neo-Christian universalist movement. It became part of our vernacular because of one wildly and very wrong popular entertainer.
Here is the TRUTH:
I (Jesus)AM The Way and The Truth and The Life! No One Comes To The Father But By Me!”
(John 14:7)
Here is another non-biblical cliche that is frequently repeated even by folks who consider themselves believers of Jesus:
YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW”
This is the mantra of religious works thumpers, Meaning you get what you plant. We had all better hope that that is not true. If it were, we would all be eternally separated from God!
We have all sinned (and do sin) and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
“And the price of sin is eternal death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus.” (Romans 6:23)
“For while we were still weak, at the right time, Jesus died for the ungodly (us). For one will scarcely die for a righteous person–though perhaps for a good person, one would dare even to die– but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us!
(Romans 5:8)
If we reap what we sow, there is no hope of salvation.
More Delusions
SOMETIMES GOD SAYS NO!
ALL OF THE PROMISES OF GOD ARE YES AND AMEN!”
(Corinthians 1:20)
“Simon Peter, a servant and apostle (special messenger with a special message) of Jesus, To those (those who believe and believe in Jesus) who HAVE obtained like precious faith (the faith of Jesus) with ours BY THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF OUR GOD AND SAVIOR JESUS (not by our behavior or lack thereof):
May Grace (God’s willingness, ability, and power that have done for us those things which we can not or will not do for ourselves.) and peace (a state of complete non-disturbedness) be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.
NOTE
This statement from Peter who was an eyewitness to the acts of Jesus and heard His messages, is so true. The more you learn about Jesus and His Words and promises, the more you receive, believe, and employ them, the more you walk in grace and peace.
His divine power HAS given us ALL THINGS that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence, by which He HAS given us His precious and very great promises…
(2Peter1:2-4)
What, then, has God not already given us? What request has He then denied?
Here is a whopperdoodle: “WE MUST” after this proclamation follows an abundance of man-created chores. Such as repent, confess, and be baptized.
Some folks will fight to the death over this religious cliche. Like all of the “WE MUST” amendments to the Gospel of Jesus, this one is a delusional belief.
HERE IS THE TRUTH ACCORDING TO JESUS:
“Then they said to Him (Jesus), ‘What must we do to be doing the works of God? Jesus answered them, This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.’ (John 6:28-29)
The only thing WE MUST do is BELIEVE ON THE ONE WHOM HE HAS SENT!
Perhaps the worst of all, WE MUST  delusional beliefs is that WE MUST ask God to forgive us! Asking God to forgive us is like slapping Him in the face. In the person of Jesus, God died on the cross to pay the price to forgive every sin we have committed or ever will commit. He forgave all of our sins once and for all on the cross. He has forgiven and put all our sins beyond His memory at the cost of His blood.
(Zephaniah 3:17, Psalm 103:1-3 and 12, Isaiah 53:4-5, John 1:29, 1 Peter 2:24, Hebrews 8:12, Hebrews 10:10-18 and Revelations 1:4)
SOMETIMES GOD TAKES THINGS AWAY FROM US TO TEACH US LESSONS.
I heard this taught repeatedly by the superstar of all Baptist preachers. The fellow had a television ministry with followers in the millions and taught his message in many countries.
It is delusional nonsense. GOD NEVER TAKES FROM US!
GOD IS NOT A THIEF!
Jesus teaches: The thief (the evil one) comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly!
(John 10:10)
Could Jesus have made it more simple? If there is theft, destruction, or murder, the evil one is responsible! God does not kill, destroy, or steal! This fact shoots down many delusional religious, non-biblical cliches.
This leads us to an unmitigated lie propagated by religion, created by a man led by the evil one in the middle of a colossal pity party, Job. We have heard it all of our lives, primarily at funerals. It is an accusation that God is a murderer.
“THE GOOD LORD GIVES, AND THE GOOD LORD TAKES AWAY!” (Job 1:25)
When Job came to his senses, he repented the horrible lie. He confessed that the reason for His losses was His fear, which is rooted in unbelief. “The things I fear come upon me, and the things I dread befall me.” (Job 3:24)
Here is one of the worst of the delusional beliefs that religion and the evil one have foisted on us:
THE GOOD LORD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS!
This whopper usually accompanies bad news such as disasters, death, or theft. The implication is that God is in some way complicit in bad things that happen to us, known as the vicissitudes or natural occurrences of life or events caused by the leading of the evil one.
It is another delusion. God has revealed ALL of His mysteries to us who believe and believe in Jesus through the Holy Spirit, who has been given us to guide us into ALL Truth and show us the things that are to come.
(John 16:13)
Here is a grand delusion that religion has stamped in the minds and hearts of many:
MORTAL SINS
Many believers have been indoctrinated with this one.
They have been taught that one sin is more unforgivable than another. The fact is that there are only three unforgivable sins. One is to grieve Holy Spirit. Contrary to another popular but errant teaching, the only way to commit this sin is to accuse Holy Spirit of being demonic.
The Pharisees and Sadducees had accused Jesus of having an evil or demonic spirit; this is what He told them:
Therefore, I tell you, EVERY SIN AND BLASPHEMY WILL BE FORGIVEN PEOPLE, BUT THE BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL NOT BE FORGIVEN.
And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
(Matthew 12: 31-32, Mark 3:28-30, Luke 12:10)
Paul wrote in Hebrews about the unforgivable sin of apostasy, which means that a person who has been saved rejects (spurns) Jesus and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was saved and has outraged the Holy Spirit. Sadly, this happens fairly frequently when people convert to other religions.
The third unforgivable sin is to reject the salvation and deity of Jesus. UNBELIEF is an act that breaks God’s heart. It causes one to be eternally separated from Him, and He can do nothing about it.
HOW TO AVOID BEING DELUSIONAL
Jesus taught us that unless we eat His flesh (learn, consume, believe, and employ His Words) and drink His blood (believe that He guaranteed every Word He spoke with His blood.), we have no life in us.
(John 6:53)
The more of His Word we consume, the more we know Him. The more we know Jesus and His teachings, the less ignorant we become of the Truth.
Jesus taught us that if we continue in His Word, continue to learn, and consume His Words, we would become His disciples, and we would know the Truth and that the Truth would make us free as in free from false teachings and delusional beliefs.
(John 8:32)
THE POINT
Learn the Truth from the Words of Jesus and reject anything that disagrees with them, and you will not be delusional!
