THE KING OF HEARTS
In the last message that the Holy Spirit dictated, He asked us the question: “Who is the King of your heart?” and gave us hints based on what flows from our mouths.
“The good man produces what is good and honorable and moral out of the good treasure (Jesus and His Words) stored in his heart. and the wicked and depraved out of the evil (the world his flesh mind and the thoughts of the evil one) stored in his heart; for his mouth speaks from the overflow of his heart.”
(Luke 6:45)
Why should we make Jesus the King of our hearts?
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unimaginable, Infinite, Unqualified, Perfect, Love!
God the Father, God Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit Love us (fill in your name) without conditions or judgment of our behavior, completely, entirely, and forever. They love us so much that they not only forgave us our sins (past, present, and future. Hebrews 10:10-18) to the point that they can’t even remember them, but they paid the horrid price for them on the cross.
Why did They suffer the horrors imposed on them by the world and the hatred of those who love the darkness? Because they love you and me so much that they were willing to pay any price to have us spend eternity with them. They gave everything that they possibly could so that we would be able to be with them forever regardless of our behavior.
IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE!
Recently a man told me that the hardest thing for him to believe about God is that God loves him that intensely regardless of his behavior or lack thereof. Isn’t that the truth? We find it so hard to understand God’s love because we are trying to comprehend the infinite mind of God with our finite minds, which is utterly impossible.
Albert Einstein, said that it is impossible for man to think on the level of his creator. God explained why to Isaiah the prophet:
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts higher than your thoughts”.
(Isaiah 55:8-9)
All God the Father, God Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit want from us is that we believe and believe in the One Whom God sent and love them to the point that we make them the King of our Hearts. They earned that right and paid the price for it in full.
(John 6:28-29, Romans 10:9-10, John3:16, Ephesians2:8-12)
The Words of the King of Kings
“Just as Moses lifted the bronze serpent in the desert on a pole, so must the Son of Man be lifted on the cross, so that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life after physical death and will actually live forever in Heaven.”
It is important to know that we will all live forever. Science tells us that matter can not be destroyed. Our physical bodies “die” or fail to function only to change into another form of matter. Those who accept and believe in Jesus will spend that forever with Him in eternal bliss. Those who reject the only acceptable atonement for sin that is acceptable to God, Jesus, will spend eternity in constant torment without mercy, grace, hope, or a way out.
God’s people have a history of rejecting Him no matter how much He demonstrates His love for them. God had just done ten magnificent miracles to free His people from the bondage unto works in Egypt. These miracles included the Passover and the parting of the Red sea.
Here is the incident that Jesus referred to:
“Then they set out from Mount Hor by way of the branch of the Red Sea called the Gulf of Aqabah to go around the land of Edom, and the people became impatient because of the challenges of the journey. So the people spoke against God and Moses, “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, nor is there any water, and we loathe this miserable food.”
How did God withhold His anger? They called Him a murderer by negligence after he had just saved them. They were clearly in full-blown rebellion against God. Why did He not kill them all? Because His mercy endures forever.
Before you judge the children of Israel, think about this.
People, including “believers,” are still judging God and accusing Him of all nature of crimes, including murder, negligence, and theft. Have you ever said that “God is in control?”
“Then the Lord sent fiery (burning) serpents among the people, and they bit the people, and many Israelites died.”
When snakes appear in the Bible, they are a reference to the evil one. When we reject God, we earn the evil of the evil one.
So the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and you; pray to the Lord so that He will remove the serpents from us.”
So Moses prayed for the people. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent [of bronze] and set it on a pole; and everyone who is bitten will live when he looks at it.” So Moses made a serpent of bronze and put it on the pole, and it happened that if a serpent had bitten any man when he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived.
(Numbers 21:8)
Did you notice that the instant that the people asked for God’s forgiveness, It was granted to them? God gave them a way out, a means of salvation.
Those of us who have surrendered to Jesus no longer need ask forgiveness. Our forgiveness was purchased by His blood once and for all. (Hebrews 10:10-17)
God’s incomprehensible love and mercy are demonstrated in the salvation that He provided to the people who were in full-blown rebellion and rejection of Him. Even in their astonishing ingratitude, Those who accepted it were saved.
The symbol of the snake on the pole is still, to this day, the symbol of physicians. Just as with the snake, without
sacrifice, there can be no salvation because we all sin and come short of the requirement of salvation which is sinlessness.
Read the Words of Jesus
“For God, so greatly loved and dearly prized the world, (fill in your name here) that He sacrificed Himself so that WHOSOEVER believes and trusts in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him.
Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him as personal Savior and Lord is not judged for this one; there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation; but the one who does not believe and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord is judged already that one has been convicted and sentenced because he has not accepted and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
This is the judgment. The Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. Every wrongdoer hates the Light and does not come to the Light [but shrinks from it] for fear that his [sinful, worthless] activities will be exposed and condemned.”
THE ONLY WAY!
The world and many “believers” have been polluted with the incorrect notion fostered by a prominent member of the entertainment business that there are “many ways” to God. The non-sense of this is that we all sin and come short of the sinless requirement of God. Only Jesus paid that price, and He did not equivocate about the cost for salvation!
The Declaration of God in The Flesh!
“I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER, BUT BY ME!”
(John 14:6)
Gratitude for God becoming a human and walking the earth as a man being tempted at all points as we are yet without sinning, and dying the worst death any human ever will, alone, to sacrifice Himself for us, is worthy of our love and surrender and obedience. As the old gospel song says: “Oh how I love Jesus, Oh how I love Jesus, Oh how I love Jesus because He first loved me.”
Jesus told us why He was willing to be tortured then suffer every disease known and unknown to man on the cross to pay for our sins and heal us forever… FOR GOD SO LOVED…(fill in your name).
Jesus said that He came to earth and became willing to die for us/you personally so that you would be complete and overflowing with His joy and gladness and that we could spend eternity with Him soaking in His glory.
Jesus, in His death Statement to God The Father, explained why He was willing to pay for our sins with the most gruesome death ever experienced:
“And now I am coming to You; I say these things while I am still in the world, so that My joy may be made full and complete and perfect in them (fill in your name here)that they may experience My delight fulfilled in them, that My enjoyment may be perfected in their own souls, that they may have My gladness within them, filling their hearts completely and overflowing.”
(John 17:13)
“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. (John 17:24)
Isn’t the life Jesus lived and died for us worthy of making Him the King of our hearts moment by moment by moment?
So many people are in a desperate search for the unconditional love that is already within them. No human can give the unqualified complete eternal love that we crave. Jesus has, does, and always will. No human can give us the limitless validation, respect, appreciation, and recognition that we want. Jesus has and will forever.
In a world gone mad with noise and self-centeredness,
and immorality, there is a refuge in the unconditional love of the King of Love! Jesus.
The message is that we choose moment by moment who we make the King of our Heart. Choosing Jesus requires a choice generated by the gift of free will given to man from the very beginning by God.
“See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction, For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to Him and to keep His commands, decrees, and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.”
This day, I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses CHOOSE life so that you and your children may live, and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice and hold fast to Him. For the Lord is your life and, He will give you many years in the land He swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
(Deuteronomy 30:15-20)
We as gentiles were never obligated to keep the Laws and Commandments that God gave the Jews*, but we still have been given the responsibility to CHOOSE life or death. We still, by this decree, possess the free will that affects all of our lives and its impact on the world in which we live, either positively or negatively.
*(Ephesians 2:8-12)
It would be a different and wonderful world if God were, as some believe, in control. Earth would be heaven. He chose to give us free will, and that, is the answer to the questions about how evil, sickness, and death prevail.
So too, who rules our hearts and our lives is our choice. Here is a teaching from the King of Kings about free will.
“Jesus answered them by saying, “My teaching is not My own, but His who sent Me. If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know whether the teaching is of God or whether I speak on My own accord and by My own authority. He who speaks on his own accord seeks glory and honor for himself.”
(John 7:17)
Did you get the “IF ANYONE IS WILLING” part? If God were in control, every human would believe Him without a doubt.
THE JOY AND GLADNESS OF A HEART RULED BY JESUS
Jesus taught us that a heart that is fertile ground is teachable, willing to learn, receive His Word, believe it, act on it, and receive and produce much good fruit.
When we choose to be open-minded and, without doubt, we can hear Jesus and understand His Words.
The entire tenth chapter of John is a declaration of Jesus about how He is our Shepherd. He proclaims that He knows us by our names and that we listen to His voice, and we know His voice, and we will listen and pay attention to no other voice and that He listens to our voices.
Jesus has provided us a way to walk with God in the cool of the evening just as Adam and Eve and walk with Him and talk with Him just as my favorite song: “In The Garden,” proclaims.
The more we study the Words of Jesus, the better we know Him. When we seek Him, we find Him. When we search His Words, we learn who Jesus really is and what He did for us out of the purity and infinity of His love for us as individuals (fill in your name).
(Mark 4:24)
When we study His Words, we learn to hear His voice so that we will listen to no other. Consider these examples of the love and deep compassion of Jesus:
If you want to know the true nature of Jesus, consider His willingness to violate the rules to demonstrate His unqualified love for every human being without regard for race, religion, or behavior. Here is one example:
“Jesus got up and left there and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon, the coastal area of Phoenicia]. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know about it, but it was impossible for Him to be hidden [from the public].
Instead, after hearing about Him, a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately came and fell at His feet. Now the woman was a Gentile Greek, by nationality. And she kept pleading with Him to drive the demon out of her daughter.
He was saying to her, “First, let the children of Israel be fed, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the pet dogs (non-Jews).” But she replied, “Yes, Lord, but even the pet dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.” And He said to her, “Because of this answer reflecting your humility and faith, go the demon has left your daughter [permanently]. And returning to her home, she found the child lying on the couch [relaxed and resting], the demon having gone.
Jews considered non-jews to be lower than dogs. They treated them worse than dogs. They presumed that Jesus would as well. They presumed that the Messiah would be sent only to them and that God would condemn Gentiles to hell with the rest of the people. When the Greek woman came to Him asking for healing for her daughter, they assumed that Jesus would reject her because she was not one of them. Jesus replied with the thoughts of the Jews mockingly for them to hear.
He planned to heal the child no matter what. When the woman responded in faith, her child was healed in that instant. Her faith in Jesus, not her nationality or position, caused her daughter to receive her healing. Jesus taught the disciples that there was no difference between Jews and Gentiles, that He is Lord over all people who accept and believe and believe in Him.
BOOM! The Jews were in complete shock!
Why were the Jewish disciples and those who were Israeli’s shocked at God performing a miracle for a gentile? Because it violated the traditions of men. The 603 ordinances that they had created for themselves.
They were shocked at Jesus not stoning the woman caught in the act of adultery, they were shocked at the paradigm of the prodigal son, they were shocked when Jesus healed the servant of the Roman Centurian, the woman with the issuance of blood who committed the capital crime of touching His garment and every other time that Jesus violated a rule or a law to demonstrate that Jesus is Love and Love and mercy are more important to Him than rules and regulations.
BOTTOM LINE
We are all searching for love and peace and joy and happiness. More now than ever, we need the infinite love of God the Father, God Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit, and they are no farther away than our hearts. Jesus said that He stands at the door of our hearts, knocking. Will we open the door sincerely and make Him the King of our hears one moment at a time.
“Pay attention: I stand at the door and continually knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, restore him, and he with Me.
He who overcomes the world through believing that I AM the Son of God, I will grant to him the privilege to sit beside Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down beside My Father on His throne.”
(Revelation 3:20)
How cool will it be to sit beside Jesus on His throne? Make Him the King of your heart and find out.
