Jesus made this promise to Peter and to everyone who listens to and hears the voice of the Holy Spirit:
“And I will give you the Keys to the Kingdom.”
Jesus in the person of the Holy Spirit has led me to write this series titled the Keys to the Kingdom.
Let’s start with this: Jesus is not going to do anything. He has already given us the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. Many books and even films have been produced about this subject.
Unfortunately, most if not all of the available messages about the Keys are cloaked in dead works and performance. Be certain of this; IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO EARN ANYTHING FROM GOD BASED ON PERFORMANCE.
Let’s learn about the first key to the kingdom which is a willingness to change and believe that Jesus is real and believe in Him.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (God Himself in an earth suit in the person of Jesus) so that WHOSOEVER believes in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life with Him.” (John 3:16)
Life is eternal in the past, present, and future. Once anything is created by God it may not ever be destroyed. Physicists know that matter cannot be destroyed. Neither can things of the Spirit. We are Spirits that have a soul (the heart and mind) and are housed in earth suits.
All of us will live for eternity as will everything. Where and how we live is a matter of free will decisions. God did not want us to be robots or automatons. He wanted us to love Him as a free will decision. Therefore we have choice.
Man’s free will and the lies of the unwanted growth (butt boil) as God calls the evil one are the root of all evil. God can not do evil. He does not kill, steal or destroy. Men listening to the
evil one choose to do evil.
“Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved!!!”
“For with the heart, a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Jesus) and so is justified (declared not guilty, in right standing and acceptable to God) and with the mouth confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely His belief and confirms His salvation”.
Until our next teaching, I urge you to meditate on the KEY OF SALVATION. You would assume that all “Christians” believe these scriptures wouldn’t you. In fact few do.
Why? Because we have been taught from our earliest days that there are other requirements for salvation. Here are just a few false salvation qualifications that are taught every day:
“Yes but you must obey the ten commandments.”

It is impossible to keep the law of Moses. No one but Jesus ever has or will.
And the laws given to the children of Israel do not, have not and never will apply to anyone but Jews (Ephesians 2:11-12 and the 3rd chapter of Galatians). Is it good to strive to obey them to the best of our capacity? of course. They are a message to all men of how to lead a life pleasing to God. Is pleasing God based on our performance possible? NO! Does pleasing God bring unimagined joy and happiness? Yes.
“Yes but you can lose your salvation based on your performance”commonly referred to in the parlance of works teachers as backsliding.
The only way to lose one’s salvation is by committing the willful act of apostasy. That is once having been saved by believing in Jesus; then publicly and seriously deny His deity, as in the case of Christians converting to other religions such as Universalism, Islam, or atheism, agnosticism, etc.. For those, there is no hope. They, not God, have condemned themselves to a horrid eternal life in the outer darkness.
“Yes except for murderers, abortionists, rapers, thieves, etc.”
Understand this. Jesus paid the price for all sin past, present and future on the cross. If a Killer such as an abortionist comes to Jesus and believes in Him and confesses with his heart that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead, and means it sincerely not as a graveyard confession but from the deepest part of their heart, they will spend eternity with Jesus! Note: see (Luke 23:32-43)
Here comes the ubiquitous question from the smart-aleck works crowd: “Oh yeah grace man?” “So you are saying I can claim to be saved and then go rape my next door neighbor and go to heaven?
Let’s clear this up right here. NO Christian has ever committed Murder, Rape, or Theft. You can’t accept Jesus in your heart and then ask Him to hold the door while you rob the bank.
Continuing from before: And we should all be crazy happy about that!! Because otherwise, any sin we ever committed in thought or in deed would condemn us to eternal darkness and perpetual torment.
Next week we will continue this series with a very important teaching about faith. We will define faith. We will explain how to gain the faith of Jesus. We will explain what faith is not. We will explore false definitions and explanations of faith that have become false doctrinal paradigms.
