Remember the scene? The shepherds are guarding their flocks by night when this happened: And pay attention, an angel of the Lord appeared before them, and the Glory of the Lord shown around them and they were greatly afraid (greatly hardly describes what they were. No doubt they soiled their clothing.) In a teaching to come soon, we will describe how awesome and frightening the sight of Gabriel is.
Then the angel Of The Lord (Gabriel Himself) said to them:
“Do not be afraid for pay attention, I BRING YOU GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY WHICH WILL BE TO ALL PEOPLE!”
If what you are being taught is not Good News Of Great Joy, it is NOT the Gospel of Jesus!
“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Jesus was the Messiah until He was born. At that point He became the anointed one, the Christ. Then He completed His mission on earth and returned to Himself as The King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is Jesus the King not the messiah or christ.)
“And this shall be the sign to you; You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger.” Now get this picture.
“And Suddenly (pause and consider the meaning of that word) there was with the angel a multitude (multitude, a large number. Remember that one angel could destroy the Chinese army.) of the Heavenly host praising God and saying:
“Glory to God in the highest and ON EARTH, PEACE, GOOD WILL TO MEN!”. God at that moment declared permanent peace between Himself and Mankind for all eternity! If what you are being taught is not a message of
God’s peace and goodwill towards man, It is not the Gospel of Jesus. Running over a baby with a dump truck or burning a house down, or taking things away from people, or killing a person with a deadly disease is not peace or good will.
Most of us have believed that this was the first announcement of God’s becoming flesh and entering the world. Wrong!
In fact there were more than 44 specific prophecies about the “Messiah, the one to come.” The probability of only 8 of these being fulfilled in one mans life is 10 to the 17th power. Imagine the number 10 with 17 zero’s following.
Here is now Dr. Peter Stoner describes this: “Take 10 to the 17th power of silver dollars and lay them across the state of Texas.”
“They will cover all of the state 2 feet deep. Now mark one of these silver dollars and stir the whole mass thoroughly, all over the state. Blindfold a man and tell him that he can travel as far as he wishes, but he must pick up one sinver dollar and say that this is the right one. What chance would he have of getting the right one? The same chance that the prophets would have had of writing just 8 prophecies and having them all come true in any one man, from their day to the present time, providing they wrote using their own wisdom.”
In addition to the very specific 44 messianic prophecies fulfilled in Jesus’ life, their were more than 400 other prophecies fulfilled in Jesus’ life.
Jesus is mentioned in every book of the Bible. He is called by different names which you can easily google but every one of these names is a prophecy.
In our next teaching we will teach on just one of these prophecies.
